Abstract

This invention is new to the field in two ways: [1] it sends audio/video signals wirelessly between tablet computing devices and smartphones to projection devices instead of using attached cables, and [2] it does not require an app, a second computing device, a driver, a download, or a “jailbreak” of the computing device to function properly.

Claims (24)

1. A system for wirelessly mirroring video from a mobile device to a display screen, the system comprising:

a video source device comprising:

a communications connector configured to electronically connect to a standard communications port on a mobile device;

a mobile video translator, the mobile video translator electronically connected to the communications connector, and configured to:

receive a non-HDMI video and audio signal from the mobile device through the standard communications port on the mobile device,

process and translate the non-HDMI video and audio signal into an HDMI video and audio signal, and

output the HDMI video and audio signal;

a first video network processor electronically connected to the mobile video translator, preconfigured to communicate with a second video network processor to the exclusion of other video network processors, and configured to:

receive the HDMI video and audio signal from the mobile video translator,

process and translate the HDMI video and audio signal into a wireless network transmission signal, and

output, based on the received HDMI video and audio signal, the wireless network transmission signal;

a first plurality of antennas;

a first RF transceiver, the RF transceiver electronically connected to the first video network processor and to the first plurality of antennas, the first RF transceiver configured to communicate the wireless network transmission signal wirelessly to a second RF transceiver over at least one of the plurality of antennas and without retransmission by additional wireless networking devices; and

a video receiver device preconfigured for operation with the video source device, the video receiver device comprising:

a second plurality of antennas;

an HDMI output connector configured to electronically connect to an HDMI input port on a display screen,

the second RF transceiver, the second RF transceiver electronically connected to the second video network processor and to the second plurality of antennas, the second RF transceiver configured to receive the wireless network transmission signal from the first RF transceiver via at least one of the second plurality of antennas, and communicate the wireless network transmission signal to the second video network processor;

the second video network processor electronically connected to the HDMI output connector, preconfigured to communicate with the first video network processor to the exclusion of other video network processors, and configured to:

receive the wireless network transmission signal from the second RF transceiver,

process and translate the wireless network transmission signal into the HDMI video and audio signal, and

output, based on the received wireless network transmission signal, the HDMI video and audio signal to the HDMI output connector for display on the display screen.

2. The system according to claim 1 wherein the video source device comprises a mobile handheld device.

3. The system according to claim 2 wherein communications connector comprises a display and audio port connector on the mobile handheld device.

4. The system according to claim 1 wherein the video receiver device is integrated into the display screen.
