Neridronic acid for treating pain associated with a joint
View Patent ↗Oral dosage forms of osteoclast inhibitors, such as nitrogen-containing bisphosphonates, can be used to treat or alleviate pain or related conditions such as complex regional pain syndrome.
1. A method of treating pain associated with a joint comprising:
a. selecting a patient having 1) pain associated with a joint and 2) a pain intensity of 5 or greater measured using the 0-10 NRS or 5 cm or greater using the 10 cm VAS; and
b. administering neridronic acid to the patient.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient has a pain intensity of 6 or greater measured using the 0-10 NRS or 6 cm or greater using the 10 cm VAS.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient has a pain intensity of 7 or greater measured using the 0-10 NRS or 7 cm or greater using the 10 cm VAS.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the neridronic acid is administered parenterally.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the neridronic acid is administered daily.
6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the neridronic acid is administered weekly.
7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the neridronic acid is administered monthly.
8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the joint is a knee.
9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the joint is an elbow.
10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the joint is a wrist.
11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the joint is an ankle.
12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient is suffering from complex regional pain syndrome.
13. A method of treating pain associated with a joint comprising:
a. selecting a patient having 1) pain associated with a joint and 2) a pain intensity of 5 or greater measured using the 0-10 NRS or 5 cm or greater using the 10 cm VAS; and
b. orally administering neridronic acid to the patient.
14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the patient has a pain intensity of 6 or greater measured using the 0-10 NRS or 6 cm or greater using the 10 cm VAS.
15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the patient has a pain intensity of 7 or greater measured using the 0-10 NRS or 7 cm or greater using the 10 cm VAS.
16. The method of claim 13 , wherein neridronic acid is orally administered weekly.
17. The method of claim 13 , wherein neridronic acid is orally administered 2 or 3 times a month.
18. The method of claim 13 , wherein about 40 mg to about 60 mg of neridronic acid is orally administered to the patient once weekly.
19. The method of claim 13 , wherein about 40 mg to about 60 mg of neridronic acid is orally administered to the patient once weekly for six consecutive weeks.
20. The method of claim 13 , wherein two or three doses of neridronic acid are orally administered within a month for a total of about 200 mg/m 2 to about 300 mg/m 2 of neridronic acid.
21. The method of claim 13 , wherein the joint is a knee.
22. The method of claim 13 , wherein the joint is an elbow.
23. The method of claim 13 , wherein the joint is a wrist.
24. The method of claim 13 , wherein the joint is an ankle.
25. The method of claim 13 , wherein the patient is suffering from complex regional pain syndrome.
26. The method of claim 25 , wherein the neridronic acid is orally administered in a tablet.
27. The method of claim 25 , wherein the neridronic acid is orally administered in a capsule.
28. The method of claim 25 , wherein the neridronic acid is orally administered in a pill.
29. The method of claim 25 , wherein the neridronic acid is orally administered in a troche.
