Abstract

A sticker adjuvant that may be used in agrochemical compositions is disclosed. The sticker adjuvant is a polyether amide or a polyether imide formed by the reaction of a polyether polyamine with a polyfunctional monomer. The polyfunctional monomer may be a polyacid, a di-functional acyl halide, an acid anhydride, a poly(acid anhydride) and a mixture thereof.

Claims (24)

1. A spreader-sticker adjuvant comprising:

a sticker adjuvant comprising a polyether amide or a polyether imide formed by the reaction of a polyether polyamine with a polyfunctional monomer selected from the group consisting of: a di-functional acyl halide, a dimerized fatty acid, an aliphatic acid anhydride; and a mixture thereof; and

a spreader adjuvant.

2. The spreader-sticker adjuvant of claim 1 wherein the polyether polyamine comprises a polyoxyalkylene diamine.

3. The spreader-sticker adjuvant of claim 2 wherein the polyoxyalkylene diamine comprises the formula:

wherein x=2 to 8.

4. The spreader-sticker adjuvant of claim 2 wherein the polyoxyalkylene diamine comprises the formula:

wherein y=5 to 40 and x+z=3 to 8.

5. The spreader-sticker adjuvant of claim 1 wherein the polyether polyamine comprises the formula:

wherein n=15 to 50.

6. The spreader-sticker adjuvant of claim 5 wherein the polyether polyamine has an average molecular weight of approximately 1000.

7. The spreader-sticker adjuvant of claim 1 wherein the polyfunctional monomer is a dimerized fatty acid.

8. The spreader-sticker adjuvant of claim 1 wherein the aliphatic acid anhydride comprises a C 6 -C 54 acid anhydride.

9. The spreader-sticker adjuvant of claim 1 wherein the aliphatic acid anhydride comprises polyisobutenyl succinic anhydride.

10. The spreader-sticker adjuvant of claim 1 further comprising a solvent.

11. The spreader-sticker adjuvant of claim 1 wherein the spreader adjuvant comprises a nonionic surfactant.

12. The spreader-sticker adjuvant of claim 1 wherein the spreader adjuvant comprises an anionic surfactant.

13. An agrochemical composition comprising:

a sticker adjuvant comprising a polyether amide or a polyether imide formed by the reaction of a polyether polyamine with a polyfunctional monomer selected from the group consisting of: a di-functional acyl halide, a dimerized fatty acid, an aliphatic acid anhydride, a poly(acid anhydride), and a mixture thereof;

a solvent;

a spreader adjuvant; and

an active ingredient.

14. The agrochemical composition of claim 13 wherein the composition is an emulsifiable concentrate.

15. The agrochemical composition of claim 13 wherein the composition is a suspension concentrate.
