Prodrugs of tetrahydrocannabinol, compositions comprising prodrugs of tetrahydrocannabinol and methods of using the same
View Patent ↗Described herein are Δ 9 -THC prodrugs, methods of making Δ 9 -THC prodrugs, formulations comprising Δ 9 -THC prodrugs and methods of using Δ 9 -THC. One embodiment described herein relates to the transdermal administration of a Δ 9 -THC prodrug for treating and preventing diseases and/or disorders.
1. A composition comprising a compound selected from:
or combinations thereof.
2. A pharmaceutical composition comprising
a) a compound selected from:
or combinations thereof; and
b) a pharmaceutical excipient.
3. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 2 , wherein the pharmaceutical excipient is selected from the group consisting of propylene glycol, ethanol, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, hydroxyethylcellose, and combinations thereof.
4. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 2 , wherein the pharmaceutical excipient comprises propylene glycol, ethanol, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, and hydroxyethylcellose.
5. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 2 , wherein the pharmaceutical excipient consists essentially of propylene glycol, ethanol, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, and hydroxyethylcellose.
6. A method of treating peripheral neuropathic pain or fibromyalgia in a subject comprising
administering a pharmaceutical composition, the pharmaceutical composition comprising:
a) a compound selected from:
or combinations thereof; and
b) a pharmaceutical excipient;
and wherein the method treats peripheral neuropathic pain or fibromyalgia.
7. The method of treatment of claim 6 wherein the method treats peripheral neuropathic pain.
8. The method of treatment of claim 6 wherein the method treats fibromyalgia.
9. The method of claim 7 wherein the step of administering the pharmaceutical composition comprises administering the pharmaceutical composition transdermally.
10. The method of claim 8 wherein the step of administering the pharmaceutical composition comprises administering the pharmaceutical composition transdermally.
11. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 2 , further comprising a patch, wherein the compound and the pharmaceutical excipient are contained within the patch.
12. The method of claim 6 , wherein the pharmaceutical excipient is selected from the group consisting of propylene glycol, ethanol, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, hydroxyethylcellose, and combinations thereof.
