Abstract

Provided is a display device including a substrate having a first region and a second region adjacent to the first region. The second region is located in a direction from the first region to an outside of the substrate. The first region possesses a transistor, a leveling film over the transistor, and a light-emitting element over the leveling film and electrically connected to the transistor. The display device further includes a plurality of metal films in the second region and a sealing film. The plurality of metal films includes at least one of Group 1 metal elements and Group 2 elements, and the leveling film is arranged so as to be confined in the first region.

Claims (58)

1. A display device comprising:

a substrate comprising:

a first region including:

a transistor;

a leveling film over the transistor and arranged so as to be confined in the first region; and

a light-emitting element over the leveling film and electrically connected to the transistor; and

a second region adjacent to the first region, the second region being located in a direction from the first region to an outside of the substrate;

a plurality of metal films in the second region, the plurality of metal films including at least one of a Group 1 metal element and Group 2 element; and

a sealing film over the light-emitting element and the plurality of metal films, the sealing film comprising:

a first layer including an inorganic compound;

a second layer over the first layer, the second layer including an organic compound; and

a third layer over the second layer, the third layer including an inorganic compound.

2. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein a first metal film and a second metal film selected from the plurality of metal films, sandwich the first region and extend in a first direction parallel to a long side or a short side of the substrate, and

wherein a third metal film and a fourth metal film selected from the plurality of metal films, sandwich the first region and extend in a second direction different from the first direction.

3. The display device according to claim 2 ,

wherein the second direction is perpendicular to the first direction.

4. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the light-emitting element comprises:

a first electrode;

an EL layer over the first electrode; and

a second electrode over the EL layer, and

wherein the second electrode and the plurality of metal films exist in the same layer.

5. The display device according to claim 4 , further comprising a partition wall covering an edge portion of the first electrode,

wherein a top surface of the second layer is flat in a region overlapping with the light-emitting element and the partition wall.

6. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein a top surface of the second layer slopes from the first region to the second region.

7. The display device according to claim 6 ,

wherein the first layer is in contact with the third layer in the second region.

8. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the plurality of metal films is arranged so as to form an outline surrounding the first region, and

wherein the leveling film is arranged so as to be confined in the outline.

9. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the second region surrounds the first region.

10. The display device according to claim 1 , further comprising a driver circuit in the first region.

11. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the plurality of metal films does not overlap with the leveling film.

12. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the first layer is in contact with the plurality of metal films.

13. The display device according to claim 1 , further comprising a first insulating film between a gate electrode of the transistor and the leveling film,

wherein the plurality of metal films is in contact with the first insulating film.

14. The display device according to claim 1 , further comprising a second insulating film between the leveling film and the light-emitting element,

wherein the plurality of metal films is in contact with the second insulating film.

15. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the plurality of metal films includes a Group 2 element.

16. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the plurality of metal films includes magnesium, calcium, or barium.

17. A display device comprising:

a substrate comprising:

a first region including:

a transistor;

a leveling film over the transistor and arranged so as to be confined in the first region; and

a light-emitting element over the leveling film and electrically connected to the transistor; and

a second region adjacent to the first region, the second region being located in a direction from the first region to an outside of the substrate;

a first layer over the light-emitting element and the second region, the first layer including an inorganic compound;

a plurality of metal films located over the first layer in the second region, the plurality of metal films including one of a Group 1 metal element and Group 2 element;

a second layer over the first layer and the plurality of metal films, the second layer including an organic compound; and

a third layer over the second layer, the third layer including an inorganic compound.
