Abstract

A torque transfer coupler for a roller blind. The torque transfer coupler has a central body securable to an electric motor and includes one or more torque transfer elements engaging the interior of the blind's roller tube. The coupler includes an anti-slip member having one or more resilient portions having a rest position and a deflected position. When, in their rest positions the resilient portions have a dimension larger than the cross sectional area of the roller tube. When in their deflected positions and received within the roller tube the resilient portions engage the interior surface of the roller tube resisting the withdrawal of the torque transfer coupler, and the electric motor secured thereto, from the interior of the roller tube.

Claims (11)

1. A torque transfer coupler for a roller blind, the roller blind having a roller tube having a generally hollow interior capable of receiving an electric motor within an end thereof, the motor for imparting rotational movement to the roller tube, the torque transfer coupler comprising:

a central body securable to the electric motor and receivable within the interior of the roller tube, said central body including one or more torque transfer elements engaging the interior of the roller tube when the motor is received therein such that rotational torque is transferred through said central body from the motor to the roller tube, and

one or more anti-slip members having one or more resilient portions, said one or more resilient portions having a rest position and a deflected position, when said resilient portions are in said rest position said one or more anti-slip members having a dimension larger than the cross sectional area of the hollow interior of the roller tube such that insertion of said torque transfer coupler into the roller tube causes said resilient portions to be moved to said deflected position, when in said deflected position and received within the roller tube said resilient portions engaging an interior surface of the roller tube resisting the withdrawal of the torque transfer coupler, and the electric motor secured thereto, from the interior of the roller tube.

2. The torque transfer coupler as claimed in claim 1 wherein said one or more resilient portions are positioned about an exterior of said central body such that when said resilient portions contact the interior of the roller tube said central body is held concentrically within the roller tube.

The torque transfer coupler as claimed in claim 1 wherein said one or more resilient portions comprise a plurality of fingers spaced about an exterior surface of said central body, each of said fingers having inner end and an outer end, each of said inner ends secured to said central body, each of said outer ends ending in a knife edge.

The torque transfer coupler as claimed in claim 1 wherein said one or more resilient portions comprises a generally circular disc, said disc formed from a flexibly resilient material and having a plurality of cut-outs, said cut-outs permitting said disc to be moved from said rest to said deflected position for receipt within the interior of the roller wherein a circumferential surface of the disc contacts at least a portion of the interior surface of the roller tube.

5. The torque transfer coupler as claimed in 4 wherein said disc is secured to an end of said central body by a fastener.

6. The torque transfer coupler as claimed in claim 4 wherein said disc is securable to an inner end of the electric motor by a fastener.

7. The torque transfer coupler as claimed in claim 4 wherein said disc is formed from a plastic, nylon, or other flexible resilient material.

8. The torque transfer coupler as claimed in claim 4 wherein said disc has a concave shape when in said rest position.

9. The torque transfer coupler as claimed in claim 8 wherein said concavity of said disc is directed toward the electric motor when said torque transfer coupler is secured to the motor.
