Abstract

Methods and wireless devices are described. A method includes a wireless device transmitting to wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) by being scheduled by the base station or using a pool of radio resources, which is for any of a plurality of wireless devices to use for transmission to WTRUs. On a condition that the wireless device is to be scheduled by the base station, the wireless device receives scheduling information for transmission to a WTRU having a group radio network terminal identifier (RNTI) and transmits to the WTRU in response to the received scheduling information. The scheduling information for transmission to the base station uses a different RNTI. On a condition that the wireless device is to use the pool of radio resources for transmission to a WTRU, the wireless device transmits to the WTRU without being scheduled by the base station using the pool of radio resources.

Claims (19)

1. A wireless device comprising:

a transceiver; and

a processor, the transceiver and the processor configured to transmit to wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) in a centralized mode and an autonomous mode, the wireless device being configured with a first radio network terminal identifier (RNTI) for base station scheduling of transmissions from the wireless device to WTRUs in the centralized mode and a second RNTI for base station scheduling of transmissions to the base station, the first and second RNTIs being different, the wireless device being pre-configured with a pool of radio resources allocated for any of a plurality of wireless devices, including the wireless device, to use for transmission to groups of WTRUs in the autonomous mode,

the processor and the transceiver configured, on a condition that the wireless device is to be scheduled by the base station, to receive scheduling information for transmission to a WTRU having the first RNTI and to transmit to the WTRU having the first RNTI in response to the received scheduling information,

the processor and the transceiver are further configured, on a condition that the wireless device is to use the pool of radio resources for transmission to groups of WTRUs, to select a resource from the pre-configured pool and transmit to a WTRU of a group of WTRUs without being scheduled by the base station using the selected resource.

2. The wireless device of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to have the transceiver transmit information to the base station indicating buffer status associated with a group of WTRUs.

3. The wireless device of claim 2 , wherein the processor is further configured to have the transceiver transmit information to the base station indicating buffer status associated with the wireless device that is different than the buffer status associated with the group of WTRUs.

4. The wireless device of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to have the transceiver transmit channel quality indicators to the base station.

5. The wireless device of claim 1 , wherein the wireless device is a relay station.

6. The wireless device of claim 1 , wherein the wireless device is a super WTRU.

7. A method implemented by a wireless device, the method comprising:

transmitting, by the wireless device, to wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) in a centralized mode and an autonomous mode, the wireless device being configured with a first radio network terminal identifier (RNTI) for base station scheduling of transmissions from the wireless device to WTRUs in the centralized mode and a second RNTI for base station scheduling of transmissions to the base station, the first and second RNTIs being different, the wireless device being pre-configured with a pool of radio resources allocated for any of a plurality of wireless devices, including the wireless device, to use for transmission to groups of WTRUs in an autonomous mode;

on a condition that the wireless device is to be scheduled by the base station, receiving, by the wireless device, scheduling information for transmission to a WTRU having the first RNTI and transmitting to the WTRU having the first RNTI in response to the received scheduling information; and

on a condition that the wireless device is to use the pool of radio resources for transmission to groups of WTRUs, selecting a resource from the pre-configured pool and transmitting to a WTRU of a group of WTRUs without being scheduled by the base station using the selected resource.

8. The method of claim 7 , further comprising transmitting, by the wireless device, information to the base station indicating buffer status associated with a group of WTRUs.

9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising transmitting information to the base station indicating buffer status associated with the wireless device that is different than the buffer status associated with the group of WTRUs.

10. The method of claim 7 , further comprising transmitting channel quality indicators to the base station.

11. The method of claim 7 , wherein the wireless device is a relay station.

12. The method of claim 7 , wherein the wireless device is a super WTRU.
