Abstract

Exemplary systems and methods associated with generating conversations of electronic data exchanges. In particular, in one embodiment, a conversation generator determines whether records are related based on EDI data associated with a transaction, integrates the records based on associations within the EDI data, and generates a conversation that depicts the integrated EDI data associated with the transaction in a conversational format for viewing by a user. In other embodiments, an alert engine determines that there are errors in the conversation, such as missing or inconsistent data, and alerts a user accordingly.

Claims (38)

1. A system for generating conversational depictions of electronic data exchanges, comprising:

a first user device to select a first record comprising EDI data;

a conversation generator configured to:

determine additional records associated with the first record based on the EDI data, including parsing the first record to identify the EDI data used to determine the additional records;

integrate the EDI data of the first record and the additional records based on associations within the EDI data; and

generate a conversation that depicts the integrated EDI data in a conversational format; and

a user interface to display the conversation.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the records are associated with electronic messages.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein EDI data associated with the first record is found in at least one message related to the first record.

4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the first record comprises a purchase order and the EDI data comprises at least one of a vendor name, a product name, and a volume of a product.

5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the at least one message comprises a purchase order acknowledgement by the vendor.

6. The system of claim 3 , wherein the first record comprises a purchase order acknowledgement by a vendor and the at least one message comprises a purchase order.

7. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a database, wherein at least one of the conversation and links between records of the conversation are stored in the database.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the conversation generator is further configured to query for at least one of records, transactions, messages, and conversations associated with a search term.

9. The system of claim 1 , further comprising an alert engine, wherein the alert engine is configured to determine an error in the conversation based on the EDI data.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the alert engine is further configured to generate an alert based on the error.

11. The system of claim 9 , wherein the alert engine is configured to determine the error in the conversation based on missing EDI source data.

12. The system of claim 9 , wherein the alert engine is configured to determine the error in the conversation based on inconsistent EDI source data.

13. The system of claim 9 , wherein the conversation generator is further configured to track the conversation based on the error.

14. The system of claim 9 , wherein the alert engine is further configured to generate a placeholder message in the conversation based on the error.

15. A method for generating conversational depictions of electronic data exchanges, comprising the steps of:

selecting a first record comprising EDI data with a first user device;

determining additional records associated with the first record based on the EDI data, including parsing the first record to identify the EDI source data used to determine the additional records;

integrating the EDI data of the first record and the additional records based on associations within the EDI data;

generating a conversation that depicts the integrated EDI data in a conversational format; and

displaying the conversation on a user interface.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the records are associated with electronic messages.

17. The method of claim 15 , further comprising the step of determining an error in the conversation based on the EDI data.

18. The method of claim 17 , further comprising the step of generating an alert based on the error.

19. A system for generating conversational depictions of electronic data exchanges, comprising:

a first user device to select a first record comprising EDI data;

a conversation generator configured to:

determine additional records associated with the first record based on the EDI data;

integrate the EDI data of the first record and the additional records based on associations within the EDI data; and

generate a conversation that depicts the integrated EDI data in a conversational format;

a user interface to display the conversation; and

an alert engine, wherein the alert engine is configured to determine an error in the conversation based on missing EDI source data.

20. The system of claim 19 , wherein the records are associated with electronic messages.
