Abstract

An apparatus for attaching an insulated panel to a facade utilizing a bracket having a platform and an arm, each connected to the insulated panel in separate places. The bracket is locked to the facade and may be formed with thermal breaks between the insulated panel and the facade.

Claims (14)

1. An apparatus for attaching a panel to a façade, the panel including, relative to said facade, a core, an outer layer, an inner layer, and an edge cover between the inner and outer layers, comprising:

a bracket, said bracket comprising a base member, a platform positioned against the inner layer, and an arm extending outwardly from said platform, said arm positioned between said core and said edge cover, said bracket further comprising a first portion, a second portion, and an intermediate portion, said intermediate portion being connected to said first and second portions, said intermediate portion being formed of heat insulative material, said platform being formed as a part of said first portion, said arm being formed as a part of said second portion;

a first connector for holding said platform to said inner layer;

a second connector for holding said arm to said edge layer; and

a locking element for fixing said base member to the facade, said locking element comprising a plate fixed to said facade, said plate further comprising a pair of resilient flanges projecting outwardly therefrom, and a fastener, said fastener comprising a basal portion dimension to slide on said pair of resilient flanges upon rotation of said basal portion relative to said plate, said fastener further comprising first and second arms, at least one of said first and second arms contacting said bracket upon rotation of said basal portion relative to said plate.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 in which said bracket further comprises a flange, said flange forming a cavity, and a strip, said strip at least partially occupying said cavity.

3. The apparatus of claim 2 which further comprises an insulating body, said insulating body lying adjacent said strip.

4. The apparatus of claim 2 which further comprises an insulating body, said insulating body being supported on said flange of said bracket.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 in which said bracket is fixed to said facade by said locking element, said second portion being held to the core by said second connector, said second portion of said bracket being formed of heat insulating material.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 in which said second portion of said bracket is formed of a metallic material.

7. The apparatus of claim 2 in which said strip comprises a heat insulative body.

8. The apparatus of claim 2 which additionally comprises an insulating body positioned between said strip and said locking element.

9. The apparatus of claim 1 in which said intermediate portion of said bracket comprises a plurality of spacers.

10. The apparatus of claim 1 in which the edge cover is formed with a leg and said second connector engages said leg.
