Abstract

An example method to adjust demographic data involves generating a first model based on reference demographic data corresponding to panelists, and based on first age data and a quantity of mobile webpage views from a database proprietor that is separate from a first entity, the reference demographic data collected from the panelists and stored by the first entity, and the first age data and the quantity of mobile webpage views corresponding to ones of the panelists having user accounts with the database proprietor; and based on determining that redistributing at least some of the first age data will increase an age data accuracy, redistributing the at least some of the first age data across age categories to generate a second model, the second model to facilitate adjusting second age data of the database proprietor to correct inaccuracies and/or misrepresentations in at least some of the second age data.

Claims (57)

1. A method to adjust demographic data, comprising:

logging, by executing an instruction with a processor, first impressions at a first internet domain of a first entity based on first network communications from client devices received at a first server of the first internet domain, the first network communications indicative of accesses to mobile webpages at the client devices;

instructing the client devices, by sending redirect network communications from the first server of the first internet domain to the client devices, to send third network communications to a second server of a second internet domain corresponding to a database proprietor that is separate from the first entity, the third network communications to cause the second server to log second impressions indicative of the accesses to the mobile webpages;

generating, by executing an instruction with the processor, a first model based on reference demographic data corresponding to panelists of the first entity, and based on first age data and a quantity of mobile webpage views from the database proprietor, the reference demographic data collected from the panelists by the first entity and stored by the first entity, and the first age data corresponding to ones of the panelists having user accounts with the database proprietor, and the quantity of mobile webpage views corresponding to the second impressions indicative of the accesses to the mobile webpages;

when redistributing at least some of the first age data associated with the first model will increase an age data accuracy, redistributing, by executing an instruction with the processor, the at least some of the first age data across age categories to generate a second model, the second model to facilitate adjusting second age data of the database proprietor to correct at least one of inaccuracies or misrepresentations in at least some of the second age data; and

discarding the first model when the age data accuracy will not be increased by redistributing the at least some of the first age data, the age data accuracy not increased when a demographic match ratio corresponding to the first model does not satisfy a threshold.

2. The method as defined in claim 1 , further including:

applying the second model to the second age data;

performing a statistical analysis on an output of the second model; and

determining whether to adjust at least some of the second age data based on the statistical analysis.

3. The method as defined in claim 2 , wherein the second age data corresponds to registered users of the database proprietor.

4. The method as defined in claim 3 , wherein the registered users include non-panelists.

5. The method as defined in claim 2 , wherein the second age data corresponds to users for which impressions to advertisements are logged when the advertisements are rendered on devices of the users.

6. The method as defined in claim 1 , wherein the database proprietor provides a social networking service to registered users including non-panelists and the ones of the panelists having the user accounts with the database proprietor.

7. A system to adjust demographic data, comprising:

a first server to:

log first impressions at a first internet domain of a first entity based on first network communications from client devices received at the first server of the first internet domain, the first network communications indicative of accesses to mobile webpages at the client devices, and

instruct the client devices, by sending redirect network communications from the first server of the first internet domain to the client devices, to send third network communications to a second server of a second internet domain corresponding to a database proprietor that is separate from the first entity, the third network communications to cause the second server to log second impressions indicative of the accesses to the mobile webpages;

a modeler to generate a first model based on reference demographic data corresponding to panelists of the first entity, and based on first age data and a quantity of mobile webpage views from the database proprietor, the reference demographic data collected from the panelists by the first entity and stored by the first entity, and the first age data corresponding to ones of the panelists having user accounts with the database proprietor, and the quantity of mobile webpage views corresponding to the second impressions indicative of the accesses to the mobile webpages;

a processor to redistribute at least some of the first age data across age categories to generate a second model when redistributing the at least some of the first age data associated with the first model will increase an age data accuracy, the second model to facilitate adjusting second age data of the database proprietor to correct at least one of inaccuracies or misrepresentations in at least some of the second age data; and

an analyzer to discard the first model when the age data accuracy will not be increased by redistributing the at least some of the first age data, the age data accuracy not increased when a demographic match ratio corresponding to the first model does not satisfy a threshold.

8. The system as defined in claim 7 , wherein the processor is further to:

apply the second model to the second age data;

perform a statistical analysis on an output of the second model; and

determine whether to adjust at least some of the second age data based on the statistical analysis.

9. The system as defined in claim 8 , wherein the second age data corresponds to registered users of the database proprietor.

10. The system as defined in claim 9 , wherein the registered users include non-panelists.

11. The system as defined in claim 8 , wherein the second age data corresponds to users for which impressions to advertisements are logged when the advertisements are rendered on devices of the users.

12. The system as defined in claim 7 , wherein the database proprietor provides a social networking service to registered users including non-panelists and the ones of the panelists having the user accounts with the database proprietor.

13. A non-transitory machine readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed, cause a machine to at least:

log first impressions at a first internet domain of a first entity based on first network communications from client devices received at a first server of the first internet domain, the first network communications indicative of accesses to mobile webpages at the client devices;

instruct the client devices, by sending redirect network communications from the first server of the first internet domain to the client devices, to send third network communications to a second server of a second internet domain corresponding to a database proprietor that is separate from the first entity, the third network communications to cause the second server to log second impressions indicative of the accesses to the mobile webpages;

generate a first model based on reference demographic data corresponding to panelists of the first entity, and based on first age data and a quantity of mobile webpage views from the database proprietor, the reference demographic data collected from the panelists by the first entity and stored by the first entity, and the first age data corresponding to ones of the panelists having user accounts with the database proprietor, and the quantity of mobile webpage views corresponding to the second impressions indicative of the accesses to the mobile webpages;

redistribute at least some of the first age data across age categories to generate a second model when redistributing the at least some of the first age data associated with the first model will increase an age data accuracy, the second model to facilitate adjusting second age data of the database proprietor to correct at least one of inaccuracies or misrepresentations in at least some of the second age data; and

discard the first model when the age data accuracy will not be increased by redistributing the at least some of the first age data, the age data accuracy not increased when a demographic match ratio corresponding to the first model does not satisfy a threshold.

14. A non-transitory machine readable medium as defined in claim 13 , wherein the instructions further cause the machine to:
