Abstract

A catheter device for crossing occlusions includes an elongate body, a central lumen extending within the elongate body from the proximal end to the distal end, a rotatable tip at the distal end of the elongate body, and an OCT imaging sensor. The rotatable tip is configured to rotate relative to the elongate body. The OCT imaging sensor includes an optical fiber coupled with the rotatable tip and configured to rotate therewith. A distal end of the elongate body includes one or more markers configured to occlude the OCT imaging sensor as it rotates. A fixed jog in the elongate body proximal to the distal end of the catheter positions the distal end of the catheter at an angle relative to the region of the catheter proximal to the fixed jog and is aligned with the one or more markers on the elongate body.

Claims (17)

1. An imaging system for use with an imaging catheter, the system including:

a display configured to display an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) image from an imaging catheter and a fluoroscopy image of the imaging catheter, the imaging catheter comprising a fluoroscopy marker and one or more OCT markers, wherein the fluoroscopy marker and the one or more OCT markers have a set axial position relative to one another; and

a controller, the controller configured to:

receive input from a user regarding a rotational position of the imaging catheter; and

rotate the OCT image based on the received input, a position of the one or more OCT markers in the OCT image, and a position of the fluoroscopy marker in the fluoroscopy image such that the fluoroscopy image and the OCT image are in alignment with one another.

2. The imaging system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more OCT markers includes three markers arranged asymmetrical about the OCT image.

3. The imaging system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more OCT markers are aligned with a bend in the imaging catheter to provide steerability during use of the imaging catheter.

4. The imaging system of claim 1 , wherein the fluoroscopy image and the OCT image are in alignment with one another when a rotational position of at least one of the one or more OCT markers in the OCT image is consistent with a rotational position of the fluoroscopy marker in the fluoroscopy image.

5. The imaging system of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to obtain a plurality of OCT images as the imaging catheter rotates and to combine the plurality of images into a continuously updated circumferential OCT image for viewing on the display.

6. The imaging system of claim 5 , wherein the display is further configured to display a waterfall view of the plurality of OCT images.

7. The imaging system of claim 6 , wherein the waterfall view includes a time axis and image axis.

8. The imaging system of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to rotate the OCT image by 90°, 180°, or 270°.

9. The imaging system of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to mask unwanted portions of the OCT image on the display.

10. The imaging system of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to mask a central portion of the imaging catheter in the OCT image on the display.

11. The imaging system of claim 1 , wherein the fluoroscopy image and the OCT image are in alignment with one another when at least one of the one or more OCT markers in the OCT image is at a specific o'clock position and when the fluoroscopy marker in the fluoroscopy image is at the same specific o'clock position.

12. The imaging system of claim 1 , wherein the user input is a manual input.

13. The imaging system of claim 1 , wherein the user input comprises rotating the imaging catheter such that the fluoroscopy marker is at a predetermined rotational position.
