WIRELESS TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR CACHING AT A MOBILE DEVICE BASED ON USER CHARACTERISTICS
A method of conserving network bandwidth through caching is provided. The method includes receiving, at a mobile device, information or characteristics about another user, determining information to cache based on the information or characteristics about another user, and caching, at the mobile device, the determined information.
1 . A method of conserving network bandwidth through caching, comprising:
receiving, at a mobile device, information or characteristics about a user;
determining information to cache based on the information or characteristics about the user; and
caching, at the mobile device, the determined information.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising pre-caching the determined information on the mobile device.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the information or characteristics about the user include at least one of: geographic location, network used, applications operating on the mobile device, aggregate usage patterns, similarity of usage pattern between the mobile device of the user and a mobile device of a different user, demographic information of the user, and time.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the information or characteristics is collected by a cache server at an edge of a network.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the information or characteristics is collected by a data analysis server.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising extending a caching period beyond what would be cached based on the information or characteristics.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the caching is subject to one or more rules.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the one or more rules is controlled by the user.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the one or more rules includes at least one of: selecting which applications or sites to cache, determining a time of day to accelerate, and caching content that is representative of the user.
10 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the one or more rules is determined by a mobile network operator associated with the mobile device.
