Abstract

A method for automatically allocating funds between financial systems includes receiving a weighting preference between multiple variables and determining an allocation scheme according to the weighting preference. The method also includes receiving funds and apportioning the received funds between multiple financial transactions associated with the variables according to allocation scheme. The method further includes requesting distribution of the received funds between the financial transactions in accordance with the apportioning. Receiving the weighting preference may include receiving a request for a weighting between the variables, generating a field having a polygon having vertices representing the variables, and receiving an input within the field, where the input corresponds to a selection point. Receiving the weighting preference may also include calculating distances between the selection point and the vertices and, for each variable, establishing a weighting value that is inversely correlated with the distance between the variable's associated vertex and the selection point.

Claims (79)

1 . A method for automatically allocating funds between financial systems, the method comprising:

receiving a weighting preference between multiple variables;

determining an allocation scheme according to the weighting preference;

receiving funds;

apportioning the received funds between multiple financial transactions associated with the variables according to allocation scheme; and

requesting distribution of the received funds between the financial transactions in accordance with the apportioning.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the weighting preference comprises:

receiving a request for a weighting between the variables;

generating a field comprising a polygon having vertices representing the variables;

receiving an input within the field, the input corresponding to a selection point;

calculating distances between the selection point and the vertices; and

for each variable, establishing a weighting value that is inversely correlated with the distance between the variable's associated vertex and the selection point.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein:

the weighting preference involves three variables;

the field is a plane; and

the polygon is an equilateral triangle.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein:

the weighting preference involves four variables;

the field is in a three-dimensional volume; and

the polygon is an equilateral triangular pyramid.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the variables are associated with different financial goals.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a sub-weighting preference between multiple sub-variables associated with one of the variables;

determining a sub-allocation scheme according to the sub-weighting preference; and

subdividing the received funds apportioned to the variable associated with the sub-variables according to the sub-allocation scheme.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the multiple sub-variables relate to different purchases to be made.

8 . An apparatus comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one memory disposed in communication with the at least one processor and configured to provide a plurality of instructions stored in the at least one memory to the at least one processor, wherein the instructions when executed cause the at least one processor to:

receive a weighting preference between multiple variables;

determine an allocation scheme according to the weighting preference;

apportion received funds between multiple financial transactions associated with the variables according to allocation scheme; and

request distribution of the received funds between the financial transactions in accordance with the apportioning.

9 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the instructions that when executed cause the at least one processor to receive the weighting preference comprise:

instructions that when executed cause the at least one processor to:

receive a request for a weighting between the variables;

generate a field comprising a polygon having vertices representing the variables;

receive an input within the field, the input corresponding to a selection point;

calculate distances between the selection point and the vertices; and

for each variable, establish a weighting value that is inversely correlated with the distance between the variable's associated vertex and the selection point.

10 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein:

the weighting preference involves three variables;

the field is a plane; and

the polygon is an equilateral triangle.

11 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein:

the weighting preference involves four variables;

the field is in a three-dimensional volume; and

the polygon is an equilateral triangular pyramid.

12 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the variables are associated with different financial goals.

13 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the instructions when executed further cause the at least one processor to:

receive a sub-weighting preference between multiple sub-variables associated with one of the variables;

determine a sub-allocation scheme according to the sub-weighting preference; and

subdivide the received funds apportioned to the variable associated with the sub-variables according to the sub-allocation scheme.

14 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the multiple sub-variables relate to different purchases to be made.

15 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium containing instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:

receive a weighting preference between multiple variables;

determine an allocation scheme according to the weighting preference;

apportion received funds between multiple financial transactions associated with the variables according to allocation scheme; and

request distribution of the received funds between the financial transactions in accordance with the apportioning.

16 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions that when executed cause the at least one processor to receive the weighting preference comprise:

instructions that when executed cause the at least one processor to:

receive a request for a weighting between the variables;

generate a field comprising a polygon having vertices representing the variables;

receive an input within the field, the input corresponding to a selection point;

calculate distances between the selection point and the vertices; and

for each variable, establish a weighting value that is inversely correlated with the distance between the variable's associated vertex and the selection point.

17 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein:

the weighting preference involves three variables;

the field is a plane; and

the polygon is an equilateral triangle.

18 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein:

the weighting preference involves four variables;

the field is in a three-dimensional volume; and

the polygon is an equilateral triangular pyramid.

19 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the variables are associated with different financial goals.

20 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions when executed further cause the at least one processor to:

receive a sub-weighting preference between multiple sub-variables associated with one of the variables;

determine a sub-allocation scheme according to the sub-weighting preference; and

subdivide the received funds apportioned to the variable associated with the sub-variables according to the sub-allocation scheme.
