Abstract

A cleaner includes: a suction unit; a suction motor that generates suction force for sucking air through the suction unit and includes an impeller; a dust separation unit that includes one or more cyclone units generating cyclonic flow to separate dust from air flowing inside through the suction unit; a dust container that stores dust separated by the dust separation unit and is disposed under the suction motor; a battery disposed behind the dust container to supply power to the suction motor; and a handle disposed behind the suction motor, wherein a rotational axis of the impeller and an axis of the cyclonic flow vertically extend and an extension line from the rotational axis of the impeller passes through the one or more cyclone units.

Claims (51)

1. A cleaner comprising:

a suction unit;

a suction motor that is configured to drive an impeller and is configured to generate suction force to thereby suction air through the suction unit;

a dust separation unit that is configured to separate dust from air suctioned through the suction unit, the dust separation unit including a first cyclone unit configured to separate dust from air that is suctioned into the cleaner through the suction unit, and a second cyclone unit configured to separate dust from air that is discharged from the first cyclone unit;

a dust container that is disposed vertically under the suction motor and configured to receive the dust separated by the dust separation unit;

a battery disposed at a side of the cleaner and configured to supply power to the suction motor; and

a handle disposed at a portion of the battery,

wherein a rotational axis of the impeller extends in a vertical direction and passes through the dust separation unit, and

wherein the suction motor is positioned between the impeller and the second cyclone unit.

2. The cleaner of claim 1 , wherein an axis of a cyclonic flow generated by one of the first cyclone unit or the second cyclone unit passes through the suction motor.

3. The cleaner of claim 1 , wherein an axis of a cyclonic flow generated by one of the first cyclone unit or the second cyclone unit is aligned with the rotational axis of the impeller.

4. The cleaner of claim 1 , wherein the suction motor is disposed vertically above the dust separation unit, and air exits are located vertically above the suction motor and configured to discharge air that has passed the suction motor.

5. The cleaner of claim 1 , wherein the dust separation unit includes a plurality of the second cyclone units.

6. The cleaner of claim 1 , further comprising a cleaner body that houses the suction motor and the dust separation unit, the suction unit extending horizontally along a longitudinal axis from a front portion of the cleaner body,

wherein at least a portion of the suction motor is positioned vertically above the longitudinal axis, and

wherein the second cyclone unit is positioned vertically below the longitudinal axis.

7. The cleaner of claim 1 , further comprising:

a motor housing that accommodates the suction motor; and

a discharge cover that defines one or more air exits, at least a portion of the discharge cover being positioned vertically above the motor housing.

8. The cleaner of claim 7 , further comprising:

a pre-filter that is configured to filter air that is discharged from the dust separation unit and flowing toward the suction motor; and

an air guide that is located in the motor housing, that surrounds the suction motor, and that is configured to guide the air discharged from the dust separation unit toward the suction motor.

9. The cleaner of claim 8 , wherein the air discharged from the dust separation unit is directed upward to be filtered by the pre-filter, the air filtered by the pre-filter is directed downward to the suction motor, and the air that has passed the suction motor is directed upward to be discharged outside through the one or more air exits.

10. A cleaner comprising:

a suction unit;

a suction motor that is configured to drive an impeller to generate suction force to thereby suction air through the suction unit;

a dust separation unit that is configured to separate dust from air suctioned through the suction unit, the dust separation unit including a first cyclone unit configured to separate dust from air that is suctioned into the cleaner through the suction unit, and a second cyclone unit configured to separate dust from air that is discharged from the first cyclone unit;

a dust container that is configured to receive the dust separated by the dust separation unit;

a battery that is configured to supply power to the suction motor;

a handle disposed at a side of the cleaner; and

a discharge cover disposed at a top surface of the cleaner, the discharge cover defining one or more air exits that are configured to discharge air that has passed the suction motor,

wherein, based on an axis of a cyclonic flow generated by the first cyclone unit being oriented vertical to ground, a lower end of the suction motor is disposed vertically above the second cyclone unit and the impeller is disposed vertically above the suction motor.

11. The cleaner of claim 10 , wherein the suction motor is disposed vertically between the discharge cover and the dust separation unit, and the axis of the cyclonic flow generated by the first cyclone unit passes through the suction motor.

12. The cleaner of claim 10 , wherein at least some of the one or more air exits are positioned forward of the axis of the cyclonic flow generated by the first cyclone unit.

13. The cleaner of claim 10 , wherein the discharge cover includes a flow guide that is configured to direct the discharged air away from a user.

14. The cleaner of claim 10 , wherein the suction unit extends along a longitudinal axis from a front portion of the cleaner, and wherein, based on the longitudinal axis of the suction unit being oriented horizontal to ground, the discharge cover is located vertically above the suction motor and the longitudinal axis.

15. A cleaner having a cleaner body, the cleaner comprising:

a suction unit that extends along a longitudinal axis from a front portion of the cleaner body to an outside of the cleaner body;

a suction motor configured to drive an impeller to generate suction force to thereby suction air through the suction unit;

a battery configured to supply power to the suction motor;

a handle disposed at a side of the cleaner body;

a dust separation unit that is configured to separate dust from air suctioned through the suction unit, at least a portion of the dust separation unit being positioned to vertically overlap the suction motor;
