Abstract

The present invention includes systems and methods for facilitating transactions using non-traditional devices. A method of the present invention includes the steps of forming a transaction request at a non-traditional device, and communicating the transaction request to a reader. In one embodiment, the non-traditional device may be configured with a transponder or other RF operable device. In another embodiment, the non-traditional device may be configured with an RFID protocol, such as a protocol in ISO 8583 format. In yet another embodiment, the non-traditional device may be configured to facilitate transactions using a random number, an authentication tag, a counter, or an encrypted payload.

Claims (20)

1 . A method, comprising:

transmitting, by a transaction device, an activation request to a verification system, the activation request including an identifier of a user of the transaction device;

receiving, by the transaction device, a prompt to receive and record an audio pass phrase spoken by the user;

transmitting, by the transaction device, the recorded audio pass phrase to the verification system;

receiving, by the transaction device from the verification system, biometric data that has been matched to a template, based on the audio pass phrase received at the verification system; and

transmitting, by the transaction device, at least the biometric data to an RFID device corresponding to a third party service, the biometric data serving as authenticating data for the user with the third party service,

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the transmitting at least the biometric data to the RFID device comprises forming a transaction request that includes at least transaction information.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the transaction device is a smartphone.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the transaction device is a cellular telephone in direct communication with at least one of an acquirer, issuer, and payment processor.

5 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the transaction request further comprises an authentication factor that includes additional identifiers that may be accommodated by a processing capacity of the smartphone.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the RFID device communicates using an RF protocol.

7 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the forming the transaction request comprises forming the transaction request in at least one of ISO 14443 format and Near Field Communication format.

8 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the third party service forms an authorization request comprising information from the transaction request.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the authorization request includes at least a subset of the transaction request in a cryptogram field,

10 . An authentication server having at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution, cause processors on the authentication server to:

receive, from a transaction device, an activation request that includes an identifier of a user;

transmit,to the transaction device, a prompt for a user to recite an audio pass phrase;

receive, from the transaction device, the audio pass phrase recited into the transaction device;

match the received audio pass phrase to locally stored biometric data; and

transmit, to the transaction device, the biometric data that matches a template, the biometric data to be included in an authentication request.
