Abstract

Disclosed are examples of systems, apparatus, methods, and computer program products for generating content objects using an integrated development environment. In some implementations, an integrated development environment is displayed. A request to generate or update an educational content object can be processed, and a presentation including metadata selection options can be provided. After a selection of one of the metadata selection options is received, the presentation can be updated. A different request is received from a rich text editor provided in a new presentation, and the new presentation can be updated.

Claims (57)

1. A system comprising:

an integrated development environment implemented using a server system, the server system configurable to cause:

displaying the integrated development environment in a user interface of a user device;

obtaining a first request to generate or update a first educational content object to be stored in a database associated with the integrated development environment;

providing, for display in the user interface, a first presentation of the first educational content object, the first presentation comprising a plurality of metadata selection options associated with the first educational content object;

obtaining a selection of a first one of the metadata selection options;

responsive to obtaining the selection of the first metadata selection option, updating the first presentation;

obtaining a second request to generate a second educational content object to be stored in the database associated with the integrated development environment;

identifying, responsive to the second request, a first level in a hierarchical data object structure corresponding to the first educational content object;

determining, based on the first level, a second level in the hierarchical data object structure corresponding to the second educational content object; and

generating the second educational content object, the second educational content object being associated with the first educational content according to the hierarchical data object structure.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first educational content object is one of: a path object, a module object, a unit object, a project object, a quiz object, a badge object, or a super badge object.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the metadata selection options comprise one or more of: a level selection option, a role selection option, a visibility selection option, a product selection option, a tag selection option, or a custom selection option.

4. The system of claim 1 , the server system further configurable to cause:

updating a second presentation of the first educational content object responsive to processing a second request to add data to the first educational content object in near real-time.

5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the second request to add data to the first educational content object is obtained via a rich text editor and comprises generating or updating a representation of the data, the representation comprising first educational content associated with a first hypertext markup language (HTML) tag and second educational content associated with a second HTML tag, the second HTML tag being different from the first HTML tag.

6. The system of claim 4 , wherein the second request to add data to the first educational content object is automatically saved and stored in a cache of the user device.

7. The system of claim 1 , the server system further configurable to cause:

sharing the first educational content object with a user of an enterprise learning system, wherein sharing the first educational content object with the user comprises:

identifying a permission associated with the user, and

determining that the user has access to the first educational content object based on the identified permission.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the selection of the first metadata selection option is automatically saved and stored in a cache of the user device.

9. A method comprising:

causing display of an integrated development environment in a user interface of a user device;

obtaining a first request to generate or update a first educational content object to be stored in a database associated with the integrated development environment;

providing, for display in the user interface, a first presentation of the first educational content object, the first presentation comprising a plurality of metadata selection options associated with the first educational content object;

obtaining a selection of a first one of the metadata selection options;

responsive to obtaining the selection of the first metadata selection option, updating the first presentation;

obtaining a second request to generate a second educational content object to be stored in the database associated with the integrated development environment;

identifying, responsive to the second request, a first level in a hierarchical data object structure corresponding to the first educational content object;

determining, based on the first level, a second level in the hierarchical data object structure corresponding to the second educational content object; and

generating the second educational content object, the second educational content object being associated with the first educational content according to the hierarchical data object structure.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the first educational content object is one of: a path object, a module object, a unit object, a project object, a quiz object, a badge object, or a super badge object.

11. The method of claim 9 , wherein the metadata selection options comprise one or more of: a level selection option, a role selection option, a visibility selection option, a product selection option, a tag selection option, or a custom selection option.

12. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

updating a second presentation of the first educational content object responsive to processing a second request to add data to the first educational content object in near real-time.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the second request to add data to the first educational content object is automatically saved and stored in a cache of the user device.

14. The method of claim 9 , wherein the second request to add data to the first educational content object is obtained via a rich text editor and comprises generating or updating a representation of the data, the representation comprising first educational content associated with a first hypertext markup language (HTML) tag and second educational content associated with a second HTML tag, the second HTML tag being different from the first HTML tag.

15. The method of claim 9 , the method further comprising:

sharing the first educational content object with a user of an enterprise learning system, wherein sharing the first educational content object with the user comprises:

identifying a permission associated with the user, and

determining that the user has access to the first educational content object based on the identified permission.

16. The method of claim 9 , wherein the selection of the first metadata selection option is automatically saved and stored in a cache of the user device.

17. A computer program product comprising computer-readable program code to be executed by one or more processors when retrieved from a non-transitory computer-readable medium, the program code including instructions configurable to cause:

displaying an integrated development environment in a user interface of a user device;

obtaining a first request to generate or update a first educational content object to be stored in a database associated with the integrated development environment;

providing, for display in the user interface, a first presentation of the first educational content object, the first presentation comprising a plurality of metadata selection options associated with the first educational content object;

obtaining a selection of a first one of the metadata selection options;

responsive to obtaining the selection of the first metadata selection option, updating the first presentation;

obtaining a second request to generate a second educational content object to be stored in the database associated with the integrated development environment;

identifying, responsive to the second request, a first level in a hierarchical data object structure corresponding to the first educational content object;

determining, based on the first level, a second level in the hierarchical data object structure corresponding to the second educational content object; and

generating the second educational content object, the second educational content object being associated with the first educational content according to the hierarchical data object structure.

18. The computer program product of claim 17 , wherein the first educational content object is one of: a path object, a module object, a unit object, a project object, a quiz object, a badge object, or a super badge object.

19. The computer program product of claim 17 , wherein the metadata selection options comprise one or more of: a level selection option, a role selection option, a visibility selection option, a product selection option, a tag selection option, or a custom selection option.

20. The computer program product of claim 17 , the instructions further configurable to cause:

updating a second presentation of the first educational content object responsive to processing a second request to add data to the first educational content object in near real-time.
