Edge-Matched Articular Implant
A method of joint arthroplasty includes obtaining an image of at least a portion of the tibial plateau. An outer periphery of at least a portion of the tibial plateau is derived based, at least in part, on the image. An implant is provided for the tibial plateau, the implant having a periphery that includes an outer edge that substantially matches the derived outer periphery of the tibial plateau.

A tibial implant for repairing a diseased or damaged knee joint of a patient, wherein the tibial implant comprises a tibial tray and an insert, wherein the tibial tray has an outer periphery that matches an outer periphery of a cut surface of a proximal tibia of the diseased or damaged knee joint of the patient, and is configured such that the outer periphery of the tibial tray substantially rests on cortical bone of the cut surface; wherein the tibial tray has another side having a side wall abutting a vertical cut surface of the proximal tibia.
2 . The tibial implant of claim 1 , wherein the outer periphery of the tibial tray includes portions that are configured to recess from the cortical bone of the cut surface.
