Golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads
Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head may include a hollow body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a bottom portion, a top portion, a plurality of ports on the bottom portion and a plurality of inner support portions in the hollow body portion. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.
1. A golf club head comprising:
a hollow body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion with a crown portion, and a bottom portion, the crown portion having a first opening closer to the toe portion than the heel portion and a second opening closer to the heel portion than the toe portion;
a first cover portion configured to couple to the crown portion to cover the first opening, the first cover portion including a first layer portion including a first material, a second layer portion including a second material, and a third layer portion including a third material different from the first material and the second material, and
a second cover portion configured to couple to the crown portion to cover the second opening, the second cover portion including a first layer portion including the first material, a second layer portion including the second material, and a third layer portion including the third material,
wherein the third material includes an elastic polymer material.
2. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 further comprising at least one inner support portion extending from an inner surface of the bottom portion into the hollow body portion.
3. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 further comprising a plurality of weight portions and a plurality of ports on the bottom portion, each port of the plurality of ports configured to receive a weight portion of the plurality of weight portions.
4. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the crown portion includes a reinforcement portion between the first opening and the second opening and extending in a direction from the front portion to the rear portion.
5. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first material and the second material include a graphite composite material.
6. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the hollow body portion includes an interior cavity and an elastic polymer insert at least partially filling the interior cavity, and wherein the elastic polymer insert includes a plurality of hexagonal recesses in a honeycomb configuration.
7. A golf club head comprising:
a hollow body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion with a crown portion, and a bottom portion;
wherein at least one portion of the crown portion includes a first layer portion including a first material, a second layer portion including a second material, and a third layer portion disposed between the first layer portion and the second layer portion and including a third material;
wherein the first material and the second material include a composite material,
wherein the third material includes an elastic polymer material, and
wherein the at least one portion of the crown portion includes a plurality of openings and a plurality of cover portions, each cover portion configured to couple to the crown portion to cover an opening of the plurality of openings, each cover portion including a plurality of layer portions comprising the first layer portion, the second layer portion, and the third layer portion disposed between the first layer portion and the second layer portion.
8. A golf club head as defined in claim 7 , wherein the first material and the second material include a graphite composite material.
9. A golf club head as defined in claim 7 further comprising a plurality of weight portions and a plurality of ports on the bottom portion, each port of the plurality of ports configured to receive a weight portion of the plurality of weight portions.
10. A golf club head as defined in claim 7 , wherein the hollow body portion includes an interior cavity and an elastic polymer insert at least partially filling the interior cavity, and wherein the elastic polymer insert includes a plurality of hexagonal recesses in a honeycomb configuration.
11. A golf club head as defined in claim 7 further comprising at least one inner support portion extending from an inner surface of the bottom portion into the hollow body portion.
12. A golf club head comprising:
a hollow body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion with a crown portion, and a bottom portion;
wherein at least one portion of the crown portion includes a first layer portion including a first material, a second layer portion including a second material, and a third layer portion disposed between the first layer portion and the second layer portion and including a third material;
wherein the first material and the second material include a composite material,
wherein the third material includes an elastic polymer material, and
wherein the at least one portion of the crown portion includes a plurality of openings and a plurality of cover portions, each cover portion configured to couple to the crown portion to cover an opening of the plurality of openings, each cover portion including a plurality of layer portions comprising the first layer portion, the second layer portion, and the third layer portion disposed between the first layer portion and the second layer portion, and wherein the crown portion includes at least one reinforcement portion between the plurality of openings and extending in a direction from the front portion to the rear portion.
13. A golf club head as defined in claim 12 , wherein the first material and the second material include a graphite composite material.
14. A golf club head as defined in claim 12 further comprising a plurality of weight portions and a plurality of ports on the bottom portion, each port of the plurality of ports configured to receive a weight portion of the plurality of weight portions.
15. A golf club head as defined in claim 12 , wherein the hollow body portion includes an interior cavity and an elastic polymer insert at least partially filling the interior cavity, and wherein the elastic polymer insert includes a plurality of hexagonal recesses in a honeycomb configuration.
16. A golf club head as defined in claim 12 further comprising at least one inner support portion extending from an inner surface of the bottom portion into the hollow body portion.
