Abstract

A mobile communication terminal that includes a display panel; a first touch panel provided on a surface of the display panel; a second touch panel provided on at least one surface of the mobile communication terminal other than the surface of the display panel; and a controller that controls the display panel based on at least one of a size and number of contacts corresponding to a touch input detected at the second touch panel.

Claims (53)

1. A mobile apparatus comprising:

a display;

a front touch panel configured to detect a touch input to a front side of the mobile apparatus;

a side touch panel configured to detect a touch input to a side of the mobile apparatus;

a back touch panel configured to detect a touch input to a back of the mobile apparatus; and

circuitry configured to

determine a number of touch inputs to the back of the mobile apparatus based on an output of the back touch panel;

upon determining that the number of touch inputs to the back of the mobile apparatus is less than a predetermined threshold and a touch input is detected at the side touch panel, control the display to display an interface in a first form in a vicinity of the side of the mobile apparatus; and

upon determining that the number of touch inputs to the back of the mobile apparatus is greater than or equal to the predetermined threshold, control the display to display the interface in a second form in a vicinity of the side of the mobile apparatus and in a vicinity of another side of the mobile apparatus, which is opposite to the first side, regardless of whether a touch input is detected at the side touch panel.

2. The mobile apparatus of claim 1 , wherein

the controller controls the display based on a number of contacts corresponding to the touch input detected at the side touch panel.

3. The mobile apparatus of claim 2 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to control at least one of a shape and a position of the displayed interface based on the at least the number of contacts corresponding to the touch input detected at the side touch panel.

4. The mobile apparatus of claim 1 , wherein

in the second form, icons included in the interface are distributed across the display.

5. The mobile apparatus of claim 1 , wherein

in the first form, icons included in the interface are consolidated in the vicinity of the side of the mobile apparatus.

6. The mobile apparatus of claim 5 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to control the display to display the interface in the first form at a position corresponding to a position of the touch input detected at the side touch panel.

7. The mobile apparatus of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to control the display to display the interface in the vicinity of the side of the mobile apparatus corresponding to a position of the touch input detected at the side touch panel.

8. The mobile apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is configured to:

in the first form, a first plurality of icons are included in the interface, and

in the second form, a second plurality of icons are included in the interface, the second plurality of icons including at least one icon that is different from the icons included in the first plurality of icons.

9. The mobile apparatus of claim 1 , wherein

the front touch panel is configured to cover an entirety of the display of the mobile apparatus.

10. The mobile apparatus of claim 1 , wherein

in the first form and the second form, the interface includes a plurality of icons that correspond to a same input to the mobile apparatus.

11. The mobile apparatus of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to control the display to display the interface in the second form in a case that no touch input is detected at the side touch panel, the second form including input areas of the interface arranged in a reticular pattern and including a plurality of icons aligned in a plurality of horizontal rows and plurality of vertical columns arranged in the reticular pattern.

12. The mobile apparatus of claim 1 , wherein

the first form of the interface is smaller than the first form of the interface.

13. The mobile apparatus of claim 1 , wherein

in the first form, a first plurality of icons are included in the interface, and

in the second form, a second plurality of icons are included in the interface, the second plurality of icons including at least one icon that is the same as one of the first plurality of icons.

14. The mobile apparatus of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to control a shape of the displayed interface based on a number of contacts corresponding to the touch input detected at the side touch panel.

15. The mobile apparatus of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to control a position of the displayed interface based on a number of contacts corresponding to the touch input detected at the side touch panel.

16. A non-transitory computer-readable medium including computer program code, which when executed by a mobile apparatus, causes the mobile communication terminal to perform a method comprising:

detecting, at a front touch panel of the mobile apparatus, a touch input to a front side of the mobile apparatus;

detecting a second touch input at a side touch panel of the mobile apparatus;

detecting a third touch input at a back touch panel of the mobile apparatus;

determining a number of touch inputs of the third touch input detected at the back touch panel;

upon determining that the number of touch inputs to the back of the mobile apparatus is less than a predetermined threshold and a touch input is detected at the side touch panel, controlling a display of the mobile apparatus to display an interface in a first form in a vicinity of the side of the mobile apparatus; and

upon determining that the number of touch inputs to the back of the mobile apparatus is greater than or equal to the predetermined threshold, controlling the display to display the interface in a second form in a vicinity of the side of the mobile apparatus and in a vicinity of another side of the mobile apparatus, which is opposite to the first side, regardless of whether a touch input is detected at the side touch panel.

17. A method performed by a mobile apparatus, the method comprising:

detecting, at a front touch panel of the mobile apparatus, a touch input to a front side of the mobile apparatus;

detecting a second touch input at a side touch panel of the mobile apparatus; and

detecting a third touch input at a back touch panel of the mobile apparatus;

determining a number of touch inputs of the third touch input detected at the back touch panel;

upon determining that the number of touch inputs to the back of the mobile apparatus is less than a predetermined threshold and a touch input is detected at the side touch panel, controlling a display of the mobile apparatus to display an interface in a first form in a vicinity of the side of the mobile apparatus; and

upon determining that the number of touch inputs to the back of the mobile apparatus is greater than or equal to the predetermined threshold, controlling the display to display the interface in a second form in a vicinity of the side of the mobile apparatus and in a vicinity of another side of the mobile apparatus, which is opposite to the first side, regardless of whether a touch input is detected at the side touch panel.
