Abstract

An apparatus and method for broadcast signal frame using layered division multiplexing are disclosed. An apparatus for generating broadcast signal frame according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a combiner configured to generate a multiplexed signal by combining a core layer signal and an enhanced layer signal at different power levels; a power normalizer configured to reduce the power of the multiplexed signal to a power level corresponding to the core layer signal; a time interleaver configured to generate a time-interleaved signal by performing interleaving that is applied to both the core layer signal and the enhanced layer signal; and a frame builder configured to generate a broadcast signal frame including a preamble for signaling, type information of Physical Layer Pipes (PLPs) and time interleaver information shared by the core layer signal and the enhanced layer signal.

Claims (13)

1. An apparatus for generating broadcast signal frame, comprising:

a combiner configured to generate a multiplexed signal by combining a core layer signal and an enhanced layer signal at different power levels;

a power normalizer configured to reduce power of the multiplexed signal to a power level corresponding to the core layer signal;

a time interleaver configured to generate a time-interleaved signal by performing interleaving that is applied to both the core layer signal and the enhanced layer signal; and

a frame builder configured to generate a broadcast signal frame including a preamble for signaling, type information of Physical Layer Pipes (PLPs) and time interleaver information shared by the core layer signal and the enhanced layer signal,

wherein the frame builder includes

a bootstrap generator configured to generate a bootstrap,

a preamble generator configured to generate the preamble, and

a payload generator configured to generate a payload corresponding to the time-interleaved signal, and

wherein the type information is for identifying one among a first type corresponding to a non-dispersed Physical Layer Pipe and a second type corresponding to a dispersed Physical Layer Pipe.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the non-dispersed Physical Layer Pipe is assigned to contiguous data cell indices, and the dispersed Physical Layer Pipe includes two or more subslices.

3. The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the type information is selectively signaled based on a result of comparing layer identification information with a predetermined value for each of the Physical Layer Pipes (PLPs).

4. The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the type information is signaled only for a core layer.
