Abstract

Methods and systems of executing a business transaction from a commercial website are provided, including sending a request for information of the user, wherein the information has been previously attested to in an attestation transaction; receiving the information of the user; sending a cryptographic challenge nonce; receiving the cryptographic challenge nonce signed by the user's private key; verifying user identity with the cryptographic challenge nonce signed by the user's private key; deriving a public attest key by using the information of the user; deriving an attestation address using the public attest key; verifying the existence of the attestation transaction at the attestation address in the centralized or distributed ledger; and upon verification of the existence of the attestation transaction, completing the business transaction.

Claims (54)

1 . A method of executing a business transaction from a commercial website, the method being implemented on a computer system having one or more physical processors configured by machine-readable instructions which, when executed perform the method, comprising:

receiving at a processor associated with the commercial website an indication from a user to start processing a business transaction;

sending a request for information of the user, wherein the information has been previously attested to in an attestation transaction stored within a centralized or distributed ledger at an attestation address, the centralized or distributed ledger providing a verifiable record of transactions;

receiving at the processor associated with the commercial website the information of the user;

sending a cryptographic challenge nonce;

receiving at the processor associated with the commercial website the cryptographic challenge nonce signed by the user's private key;

verifying user identity with the cryptographic challenge nonce signed by the user's private key;

deriving a public attest key by using the information of the user;

deriving an attestation address using the public attest key;

verifying the existence of the attestation transaction at the attestation address in the centralized or distributed ledger; and

upon verification of the existence of the attestation transaction, completing the business transaction.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing an electronic display to facilitate the indication of the user to start processing the transaction.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving an indication from a user to start processing a transaction comprises receiving login information from the user and validating the login information.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein sending a request for information of the user, comprises providing a request to the user for information of the user.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein receiving the information of the user comprises receiving from the user the information of the user.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein sending a request for information of the user, comprises providing a request to an attestor for information of the user.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein receiving the information of the user comprises receiving from the attestor the information of the user.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein sending a cryptographic challenge nonce comprises sending a cryptographic challenge nonce to a digital wallet of the user.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein receiving the cryptographic challenge nonce signed by the user's private key comprises receiving from the digital wallet of the user the cryptographic challenge nonce signed by the user's private key.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the attestation transaction comprises

receiving from the user the information and a public key generated for the information;

applying a hash function to the information to create a hash;

combining the hash of the information with the public key generated for the information to generate a public attest key;

generating an attestation address based on the public attest key; and

communicating a signed transaction to the centralized or distributed ledger for storage at the attestation address.

11 . A system for executing a business transaction from a commercial website, the system comprising

a computer system having one or more physical processors configured by machine-readable instructions to:

receive an indication from a user to start processing a business transaction;

send a request for information of the user, wherein the information has been previously attested to in an attestation transaction stored within a centralized or distributed ledger at an attestation address, the centralized or distributed ledger that provides a verifiable record of transactions;

receive at the processor associated with the commercial website the information of the user;

send a cryptographic challenge nonce;

receive at the processor associated with the commercial website the cryptographic challenge nonce signed by the user's private key;

verify user identity with the cryptographic challenge nonce signed by the user's private key;

derive a public attest key by using the information of the user;

derive an attestation address using the public attest key;

verify the existence of the attestation transaction at the attestation address in the centralized or distributed ledger; and

upon verification of the existence of the attestation transaction, complete the business transaction.

12 . The system of claim 11 , further comprising

an electronic display to facilitate the indication of the user to start processing the transaction through.

13 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the one or more physical processors are further configured by machine-readable instructions to:

receive login information from the user and validate the login information.

14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the one or more physical processors are further configured by machine-readable instructions to:

send a request for information of the user, comprising providing a request to the user for information of the user, wherein the information has been previously attested to in an attestation transaction.

15 . The system of claim 14 , wherein receiving the information of the user comprises receiving from the user the information of the user.

16 . The system of claim 11 , wherein sending a request for information of the user, comprises providing a request to an attestor for information of the user, wherein the information has been previously attested to in an attestation transaction.

17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein receiving the information of the user comprises receiving from the attestor the information of the user.

18 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the computer system is configured by machine-readable instructions to the send the cryptographic challenge nonce to the digital wallet of the user.

19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the computer system is configured by machine-readable instructions to receive from the digital wallet of the user the cryptographic challenge nonce signed by the user's private key.

20 . The system of claim 11 , further configured to perform the attestation transaction, wherein the one or more physical processors are further configured by machine-readable instructions to:

receive from the user the information and a public key generated for the information;

apply a hash function to the information to create a hash;

combine the hash of the information with the public key generated for the information to generate a public attest key;

generate an attestation address based on the public attest key; and

communicate a signed transaction to the centralized or distributed ledger for storage at the attestation address.
