Claims (4)

1 . An image production optical assembly, comprising:

a. A light source, wherein the light source is positioned to irradiate a segmented surface;

b. The segmented surface including a first segment that is partially reflective and partially transmissive section and a second segment that is transmissive, the first segment positioned to reflect the light from the light source in a direction to uniformly irradiate a reflective display; and

c. The second segment positioned to transmit light from the light source such that the light does not irradiate the reflective display.
