Abstract

Provided are methods and systems comprising receiving a plurality of data tables, wherein each data table comprises at least one row, generating a first handle for a first value in a table of the plurality of tables, wherein the first handle comprises an indication of whether a row in each of the plurality of tables is associated or not associated with the first value, and performing one or more operations on the first handle.

Claims (32)

1. A method comprising:

receiving a plurality of data tables;

determining, based on a selection at a user interface of at least one graphical object associated with a first value, a selection state for each row of a plurality of rows of each data table of the plurality of data tables;

generating, for the first value, a first handle comprising: an indication of the selection state and a column and a row for each row of each data table of the plurality of data tables, wherein the selection state for each row of each data table indicates an association with the first value or a lack of an association with the first value; and

performing one or more operations on the first handle, wherein performing the one or more operations on the first handle comprises performing a PAGE operation to retrieve one or more data values from the plurality of data tables based on the first handle.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one graphical object comprises a chart, a table, or a graph.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein an intersection of a column and a row in the first handle comprises an indication of association or a lack of an association with the first value.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein performing the one or more operations on the first handle comprises performing one or more of SET HANDLE H, SELECT, COMPLEMENT, UNION, INTERSECT, STATE(n), UPDATE, AGGR, SORT, SESSION, or PAGE.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating a second handle for a second value, wherein the second handle comprises an indication of whether each row of each data table is associated or not associated with the second value.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein performing the one or more operations on the first handle comprises performing the one or more operations on the first handle and the second handle.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein performing the one or more operations on the first handle comprises performing a set analysis based on the first handle and the selection.

8. A method comprising:

receiving a plurality of data tables;

determining, based on a selection at a user interface of at least one graphical object associated with a first hypercube, a selection state for each row of a plurality of rows of each data table of the plurality of data tables;

generating, for the first hypercube, a first handle comprising: an indication of the selection state and a column and a row for each row of each data table of the plurality of data tables, wherein the selection state for each row of each data table indicates an association with a mathematical function applied to at least a portion of at least one data table of the plurality of data tables or a lack of an association with the mathematical function; and

performing one or more operations on the first handle, wherein performing the one or more operations on the first handle comprises performing a PAGE operation to retrieve one or more data values from the plurality of data tables based on the first handle.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the at least one graphical object comprises a chart, a table, or a graph.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein an intersection of a column and a row in the first handle comprises an indication of association or a lack of an association with the first hypercube.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein performing the one or more operations on the first handle comprises performing one or more of SET HANDLE H, SELECT, COMPLEMENT, UNION, INTERSECT, STATE(n), UPDATE, AGGR, SORT, SESSION, or PAGE.

12. The method of claim 8 , further comprising generating a second handle for a second hypercube, wherein the second handle represents results of a mathematical function applied to at least the portion of the at least one data table of the plurality of data tables.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein performing the one or more operations on the first handle comprises performing one or more operations on the first handle and the second handle.

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein performing the one or more operations on the first handle comprises performing a set analysis based on the first handle and the selection.

15. A method comprising:

receiving a plurality of data tables;

determining, based on a selection at a user interface of at least one graphical object associated with a first value and a second value, a first selection state and a second selection state for each row of a plurality of rows of each data table of the plurality of data tables;

generating, for the first value, a first handle comprising an indication of the first selection state and a column and a row for each row of each data table of the plurality of data tables, wherein the first selection state for each row of each data table indicates an association with the first value or a lack of an association with the first value;

generating, for the second value, a second handle comprising an indication of the second selection state, wherein the second selection state for each row of each data table indicates an association with the second value or a lack of an association with the second value; and

performing one or more operations on one or both of the first handle or the second handle;

wherein performing the one or more operations on the first handle comprises performing a PAGE operation to retrieve one or more data values from the plurality of data tables based on the first handle.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the at least one graphical object comprises a chart, a table, or a graph.

17. The method of claim 15 , wherein performing the one or more operations on the first handle comprises performing a set analysis based on the first handle and the selection.

18. The method of claim 15 , wherein performing the one or more operations on the second handle comprises performing a set analysis based on the second handle and the selection.
