Abstract

Systems and techniques for configuring external defibrillators are described herein. A medical device management system is described that includes a plurality of external defibrillators associated with a common owner, the plurality of external defibrillators including a previously stored protocol configuration, and a configuration information database that includes owner-selected protocol configuration settings, wherein the plurality of external defibrillators associated with the common owner are configured to be communicatively connected by a wireless connection to a central server comprising the configuration information database, and to send a request for the owner-selected protocol configuration settings to the central server, receive the owner-selected protocol configuration settings, and update the previously stored protocol configuration based on the received owner-selected protocol configuration settings.

Claims (28)

1. A method for configuring a plurality of external defibrillators, the method comprising:

receiving a list of protocol configuration settings from a central server comprising a configuration information database,

sending to the central server, a request for administrator-selected protocol configuration settings based on the list of protocol configuration settings, wherein the administrator-selected protocol configuration settings comprise configuration settings for the plurality of external defibrillators and wherein the plurality of external defibrillators is associated with a common administrator;

receiving, the administrator-selected protocol configuration settings from the central server by the plurality of external defibrillators; and

modifying a previously stored protocol configuration based on the received administrator-selected protocol configuration settings, wherein the previously stored protocol configuration is previously stored at each of the plurality of external defibrillators.

2. The method of claim 1 comprising modifying the protocol configuration previously stored at each of the plurality of external defibrillators based on the same received administrator-selected protocol configuration settings.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the administrator-selected protocol configuration settings comprise settings for language.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the administrator-selected protocol configuration settings comprise settings for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the administrator-selected protocol configuration settings comprise settings for at least one of shock voltage and shock waveform.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the administrator-selected protocol configuration settings comprise settings for electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis.

7. The method of claim 1 comprising communicatively coupling to the central server, by the plurality of external defibrillators, via a wireless connection.

8. The method of claim 7 comprising communicatively coupling to the central server via one or more of a wireless cellular connection and a wireless computer network connection.

9. A medical device management system comprising:

a plurality of external defibrillators and a computing device, the plurality of external defibrillators and the computing device associated with a common administrator and the plurality of external defibrillators comprising a previously stored protocol configuration; and

a configuration information database,

wherein the plurality of external defibrillators and the computing device are configured to be communicatively connected by a wireless connection to a central server comprising the configuration information database and configured to:

receive a list of protocol configuration settings from the central server,

send a request for administrator-selected protocol configuration settings based on the list of protocol configuration settings to the central server,

receive the administrator-selected protocol configuration settings from the central server, and

update the previously stored protocol configuration based on the received administrator-selected protocol configuration settings.

10. The system of claim 9 wherein the received administrator-selected protocol configuration settings are the same for all of the plurality of external defibrillators associated with the common administrator.

11. The system of claim 9 , wherein the administrator-selected protocol configuration settings comprise settings for language.

12. The system of claim 9 wherein the administrator-selected protocol configuration settings comprise settings for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

13. The system of claim 9 wherein the administrator-selected protocol configuration settings comprise settings for at least one of shock voltage and shock waveform.

14. The system of claim 9 wherein the administrator-selected protocol configuration settings comprise settings for electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis.

15. The system of claim 9 wherein the computing device comprises a tablet or a laptop computer.

16. The system of claim 15 wherein the computing device is configured to communicatively couple to the plurality of external defibrillators.

17. The system of claim 9 wherein the plurality of external defibrillators and the computing device are configured to be communicatively connected to the central server by one or more of a wireless cellular connection and a wireless computer network connection.
