Abstract

Presented are systems and methods that generate and maintain electronic health care records using a diagnostic tool that analyzes patient responses, medical instrument data, and other patient-related information that may become part of a patient's electronic health care record. The diagnostic tool generates diagnostic and/or treatment information that may be analyzed locally and shared with health care professionals and specialists, as needed.

Claims (36)

1 . A medical data system for generating electronic health record (EHR) data, the medical data system comprising:

a communication system to receive patient information;

a patient interface that receives patient-related data;

an EHR database coupled to the patient interface; and

a medical instrument interface that receives, from a medical instrument, diagnostic medical information comprising vital signs data regarding a patient,

wherein, based on at least one of the patient information, the diagnostic medical information, the patient-related data, the medical data system generates a set of data that comprises at least two of diagnostic data, patient health exam information, a lab test request, a health risk profile, a baseline health profile, prescription data, a visit report, a treatment code, a billing code, a medical procedure code, a medical image code, treatment information, a suggested level of exam, doctor notes, a pharmaceutical code, and a treatment recommendation.

2 . The medical data system according to claim 1 , wherein the set of data is used to populate an EHR.

3 . The medical data system according to claim 1 , further comprising a diagnostics engine coupled to the patient interface and the medical instrument interface, the diagnostics engine requests at least one of the diagnostic medical information and the patient-related data to determine a set of potential illnesses.

4 . The medical data system according to claim 3 , wherein the patient interface receives a follow-up request that is used to reduce the size of the set of potential illnesses.

5 . The medical data system according to claim 1 , wherein a plurality of codes is generated by a dedicated coding engine.

6 . The medical data system according to claim 1 , wherein the medical data system generates at least one of the suggested level of exam and the treatment recommendation based on the diagnostic data.

7 . The medical data system according to claim 1 , further comprising a verification engine coupled to the patient interface, the verification engine compares the patient information against the patient-related data to identify a patient.

8 . The medical data system according to claim 1 , wherein the EHR database is updated with internal EHR database data.

9 . The medical data system according to claim 1 , wherein generating the diagnostic data comprises adjusting diagnosis probabilities based on a patient trust score associated with a patient.

10 . The medical data system according to claim 9 , wherein the patient trust score is based on one of a patient response and a relative accuracy of responses by at least another patient.

11 . A method for generating electronic healthcare record (EHR) data, the method comprising:

receiving, via a communication system, patient information from an EHR database;

receiving, at a patient interface, patient-related data;

receiving, at a medical instrument interface, diagnostic medical information that comprises vital signs data generated by a medical instrument;

communicating to the patient interface a request for at least one of diagnostic medical information and the patient-related data; and

based on at least the patient-related data, generating a set of data that comprises at least two of diagnostic data, patient health exam information, a lab test request, a health risk profile, a baseline health profile, prescription data, a visit report, a treatment code, a billing code, a medical procedure code, a a medical image code, treatment information, a suggested level of exam, doctor notes, a pharmaceutical code, and a treatment recommendation.

12 . The method according to claim 11 , further comprising populating an EHR using at least some of the set of data.

13 . The method according to claim 11 , further comprising requesting at least one of the diagnostic medical information and the patient-related data to determine a set of potential illnesses.

14 . The method according to claim 13 , further comprising sending to the patient interface a follow-up request that is used to reduce the size of the set of potential illnesses.

15 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the treatment information is based on at least one of drug information, a patient preference, and a patient medical history.

16 . The method according to claim 11 , further comprising updating the EHR database with medical data provided by a health care provider.

17 . A medical data system for generating electronic health record (EHR) data, the medical data system comprising:

a communication system to receive patient information;

a patient interface that receives patient-related data;

an EHR database coupled to the patient interface;

a medical instrument interface that receives, from a medical instrument, diagnostic medical information comprising vital signs data regarding a patient;

a treatment engine that generates at least one of a suggested level of exam and a treatment recommendation based on the diagnostic medical information; and

a note generation engine coupled to the treatment engine, the note generation engine generates a text comprising notes related to at least one of the patient information, the diagnostic medical information, and the patient-related data.

18 . The medical data system according to claim 17 , wherein the notes comprise a justification for selecting one of a suggested level of exam, specific illness, and a treatment recommendation.

19 . The medical data system according to claim 17 , wherein the note generation engine populates an EHR with the notes.

20 . The medical data system according to claim 17 , further comprising a coding engine that generates at least one of a treatment code, a billing code, a medical procedure code, a medical image code, and a pharmaceutical code.
