Abstract

A shaving razor with a blade cartridge unit having at least one blade. A handle with a frame and a blade cartridge connecting assembly operatively connected to the frame. The frame has a docking station releasably attached to the blade cartridge unit. The frame has a pod operably coupled to the frame to rotate relative to the frame. The frame has an ejector button. The blade cartridge connecting assembly is configured to rotate about an axis of rotation that is substantially perpendicular to the frame and the blade cartridge unit is configured to rotate about an axis of rotation that is substantially parallel to the blade and substantially perpendicular to the handle.

Claims (20)

1 . A shaving razor comprising:

a blade cartridge unit having at least one blade; and

a handle having a frame and a blade cartridge connecting assembly operatively connected to the frame and the blade cartridge unit, the blade cartridge connecting assembly comprising:

a docking station releasably attached to the blade cartridge unit

a pod operably coupled to the frame to rotate relative to the frame, and;

an ejector button, wherein the blade cartridge connecting assembly is configured to rotate about an axis of rotation that is substantially perpendicular to the frame and wherein the blade cartridge unit is configured to rotate about an axis of rotation that is substantially parallel to the blade and substantially perpendicular to the handle.

2 . The shaving razor of claim 1 wherein a shortest distance between the axis of rotation that is substantially perpendicular to the blades and substantially perpendicular to the frame and the axis of rotation that is substantially parallel to the blades and substantially perpendicular to the handle is about 10 mm to about 17 mm.

3 . The shaving razor of claim 1 wherein a shortest distance between the axis of rotation that is substantially perpendicular to the blades and substantially perpendicular to the frame and the axis of rotation that is substantially parallel to the blades and substantially perpendicular to the handle is about 13 mm to about 15 mm.

4 . The shaving razor of claim 1 wherein the pod generates a return torque to return to a rest position by a spring member when rotated.

5 . The shaving razor of claim 1 wherein the handle comprises a cradle having a pair of apertures.

6 . The shaving razor of claim 5 wherein the cradle is to be open at least at one end to define a hollow interior portion.

7 . The shaving razor of claim 6 wherein the apertures are generally cylindrical.

8 . The shaving razor of claim 6 wherein a bearing surface surrounds at least one of the apertures.

9 . The shaving razor cartridge of claim 8 wherein the bearing surface extends into the hollow interior portion.

10 . The shaving razor of claim 6 wherein the cradle forms a closed, integral loop.

11 . The shaving razor of claim 6 wherein the cradle is integral.

12 . The shaving razor of claim 6 wherein the apertures are concentrically aligned.

13 . The shaving razor of claim 6 further comprising a projection mate to at least one of the apertures.

14 . The shaving razor of claim 6 wherein the ejector button assembly is movable relative to the pod and the docking station to eject the blade cartridge unit attached to the docking station.

15 . The shaving razor of claim 14 wherein the ejector button assembly mates with the pod by aligning and engaging one or more extensions of the ejector button assembly with one or more corresponding grooves and/or detents on the interior surface of the pod.
