DISPLAY DEVICE AND DISPLAY DEVICE DRIVER
A display device including a plurality of pixels including a plurality of sub-pixels respectively corresponding to different colors, and a plurality of source lines, a driver configured to drive the source lines; and a control unit configured to compress image data showing the level of the sub-pixel and generate compression data, and supply transfer data containing the compression data to the driver. The control unit includes a first sorter circuit configured to perform a first sorting process to sort data contained in the image data in at least one of either a time sequence or a spatial sequence, and a compression circuit to perform compression processing on the first sorted image data output from the sorter circuit to generate the compression data. The compression processing performs different processes on the image data of the sub-pixels corresponding to different colors.

10 . A driver comprising:
a decompression circuit to decompress compression data contained in transfer data and generate decompression data; and
a sorter circuit configured to perform a sorting process on the decompression data to sort the image data in at least either a time sequence or a spatial sequence to generate sorted image data.
11 . The driver according to claim 10 , further comprising a control circuit controls the decompression circuit and the sorter circuit in response to the control data contained in the transfer data,
wherein the control circuit generates sorting control signals from color placement data contained in control data and supplies the sorting control signals to the sorter circuit, and
wherein the control circuit extracts compression data from the transfer data and supplies that compression data to the decompression circuit.
12 . The driver according to claim 10 , wherein the sorter circuit performs a rearranging on the decompression data in the sorting process to match color placement of a sub-pixel to drive source lines in response to the decompression data that is rearranged.
13 . The driver according to claim 10 , further comprising:
a display driver circuit configured to drive a source line in response to the sorted image data.
14 . The driver according to claim 10 , wherein the sorter circuit performs the sorting process according to color placement data.
15 . The driver according to claim 10 ,
wherein the sorter circuit in the sorting process, assigns copied image data as the sorted image data corresponding to a dummy sub-pixel.
16 . The driver according to claim 15 ,
wherein, when performing the decompression processing on image data corresponding to a plurality of specified pixels, one among the specified pixels contains the dummy sub-pixel not utilized in a display.
17 . The driver according to claim 16 ,
wherein the specified sub-pixel is the sub-pixel closest to the dummy sub-pixel among the sub-pixels of the certain color.
18 . The driver according to claim 10 ,
wherein a plurality of pixels including a plurality of sub-pixels respectively corresponding to different colors, and a plurality of source lines, and
wherein the sorter circuit and the decompression circuit are configured to drive the plurality of source lines.
19 . The driver according to claim 11 ,
wherein none of the data among the decompressed data corresponding to copied image data from a compression processing that is configured to drive a source line.
20 . A display device comprising a plurality of the drivers according to claim 10 ,
wherein the drivers are jointly coupled to a path to send the transfer data,
wherein the drivers include a first driver and a second driver to drive the source line in a region adjacent to the display device,
wherein, when the pixels corresponding to the compression data contain a pixel corresponding to the first driver and a pixel corresponding to the second driver, both the first driver and the second driver insert the compression data,
wherein the sorter circuit of the first driver generates the second sorted image data from data corresponding to the pixel corresponding to the first driver among the decompression data, and
wherein the sorter circuit of the second driver generates second sorted image data from data corresponding to the pixel corresponding to the second driver among the decompression data.
21 . A controller, comprising:
a first sorter circuit configured to perform a first sorting process to sort data contained in the image data in at least one of either a time sequence or a spatial sequence; and
a compression circuit to perform compression processing on the first sorted image data output from the sorter circuit to generate the compression data,
wherein the compression processing performs different processes on the image data of the sub-pixels corresponding to different colors,
wherein the compression circuit outputs the compression data to a driver to drive a display device containing a plurality of pixels including a plurality of sub-pixels corresponding to different colors, and a plurality of source lines in response to transfer data.
22 . The controller according to claim 21 ,
wherein the first sorter circuit performs the first sorting process in response to a sorting control signal generated corresponding to the color placement of the sub-pixel in the display device to output the compression data to the driver.
23 . The controller according to claim 21 ,
wherein the compression circuit performs compression processing on units of pixels to generate the compression data for the driver, and
wherein, when performing the compression processing on image data corresponding to a plurality of specified pixels, one among the specified pixels contains a dummy sub-pixel not utilized in the display, and when the number of a certain color sub-pixel among sub-pixels contained in the specified pixels is fewer than the other color sub-pixels, the first sorter circuit in the first sorting process inserts copied image data copied from the specified sub-pixel image data for any of a certain color sub-pixel into the first sorted image data instead of the dummy data corresponding to the dummy sub-pixel; and the second sorter circuit in the second sorting process, assigns copied image data as the second sorted image data corresponding to the dummy sub-pixel.
24 . A method for a driver comprising:
decompressing compression data contained in transfer data and generate decompression data; and
performing a sorting process on the decompression data to sort the image data in at least either a time sequence or a spatial sequence to generate sorted image data.
25 . The method according to claim 24 , further comprising controlling the decompressing and the performing of the sorting process in response to the control data contained in the transfer data,
wherein the controlling further includes generating sorting control signals from color placement data contained in control data and supplies the sorting control signals to the sorter circuit, and
wherein the controlling further includes extracting compression data from the transfer data and supplies that compression data to the decompression circuit.
26 . The method according to claim 24 , wherein the sorting performs a rearranging on the decompression data in the sorting process to match color placement of a sub-pixel to drive source lines in response to the decompression data that is rearranged.
27 . The method according to claim 24 , further comprising driving a source line in response to the sorted image data,
wherein the sorting performs the sorting process according to color placement data.
28 . The method according to claim 24 ,
wherein the in the sorting process, the sorting assigns copied image data as the sorted image data corresponding to a dummy sub-pixel.
29 . The method according to claim 28 ,
wherein, when performing the decompression processing on image data corresponding to a plurality of specified pixels, one among the specified pixels contains the dummy sub-pixel not utilized in a display.
