Arched window covering
An arched window covering comprising a panel (e.g., having a series of elongated cells) positioned in a fan arrangement defining a central space near a center of rotation of the fan arrangement, a base positioned in the central space, and a support member supported by the base and positioned to provide support to the panel. Preferably, the arched window covering further comprises a rail secured to at least one of two ends of the panel. In one embodiment, the base defines an opening adapted to receive the support member. The support member preferably comprises an elongated member extending from the base toward a radially outer portion of the panel, and a spacer member supported by the elongated member and adapted to hold the elongated member spaced from the panel. In one arrangement, a position of the spacer member relative to the elongated member is adjustable.
1. An arched window covering comprising:
a panel positioned in a fan arrangement defining a central space including a center of rotation of the fan arrangement;
a base positioned in the central space and including a semi-cylindrical stand defining a plurality of circumferentially spaced, radial openings;
a plurality of support members supported by the base and positioned to provide support to the panel, each support member being positioned in one of the plurality of radial openings; and
a rail coupled to the base and secured to an end of the panel.
2. An arched window covering as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the panel comprises a cellular material.
3. An arched window covering as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the base defines a recess, and wherein the rail is at least partially positioned in the recess.
4. An arched window covering as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the panel includes a slat, and wherein the slat is retained in the rail.
5. An arched window covering as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the panel comprises a series of elongated cells, and wherein the slat is positioned in at least one of the elongated cells.
6. An arched window covering as claimed in claim 5 , wherein the rail defines a trough, and wherein the slat is retained in the trough.
7. An arched window covering as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the base comprises a plurality of mating parts that couple to each other, each mating part defines a portion of the semi-cylindrical stand and a portion of the radial openings.
8. An arched window covering as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the rail is a first rail secured to a first end of the panel, and further comprising:
a second rail secured to a second end of the panel,
wherein the base defines a first recess and a second recess, the first recess being configured to receive a portion of the first rail and the second recess being configured to receive a portion of the second rail.
9. An arched window covering as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the first recess and the second recess are opposing recesses.
10. A method of assembling an arched window covering using a panel having two ends, a base, a support member, and two rails, the method comprising:
cutting the rails and support member to desired lengths;
inserting the support member into the panel at a location between the ends thereof;
attaching each end of the panel to a corresponding one of the rails; and
coupling the rails to the base.
11. A method as claimed in claim 10 , wherein the panel comprises a series of elongated cells, and wherein the step of inserting includes inserting the support member into at least one of the cells.
12. A method as claimed in claim 10 , wherein each end of the panel includes a slat, and wherein the step of attaching includes retaining each slat in a corresponding one of the rails.
13. A method as claimed in claim 10 , wherein the base comprises a recess, and wherein the step of coupling includes positioning the rail into the recess.
14. A method as claimed in claim 10 , wherein the base defines an opening, and wherein the method further includes inserting the support member at least partially in the opening.
15. A method as claimed in claim 10 , wherein the base comprises a semi-cylindrical stand that defines a plurality of circumferentially spaced, radial openings, wherein the support member comprises a plurality of support members, and wherein the method further comprises inserting each support member into a corresponding one of the radial openings.
16. An arched window covering comprising:
a panel positioned in a fan arrangement defining a central space including a center of rotation of the fan arrangement, the panel includes a series of elongated cells and a slat positioned in at least one of the elongated cells;
a base positioned in the central space;
a support member supported by the base and positioned to provide support to the panel, wherein the support member is positioned inside at least one of the elongated cells; and
a rail coupled to the base and secured to an end of the panel, wherein the slat is retained in the rail.
