Abstract

The present invention relates to a home appliance which can communicate with an outside of the home appliance, an online system including the same and a method for using an online system. According to embodiments of the present invention, a home appliance, an online system and a method for using an online system may be provided, each including a WiFi communication module mounted or connected to the home appliance for supporting a setting mode for making communication connection and a use mode for enabling communication, and a particular input unit provided to run the setting mode by user's selection, wherein the home appliance is changed to the use mode upon reception of SSID (Service Set Identifier; a name of a wireless LAN) information of an access point AP desired to access and user information required for registration of the home appliance through an external terminal after access to the setting mode through the external terminal provided separate from the home appliance.

Claims (36)

1. A home appliance comprising:

a WiFi communication module configured to support a setting mode for establishing a communication connection with a server and a use mode for communicating with the server using the communication connection,

wherein the home appliance displays network address information of the home appliance,

wherein the home appliance is accessed via the WiFi communication module during the setting mode by an external terminal provided separate from the home appliance and separate from the server,

wherein the external terminal provides the network address information to the home appliance and connects to the home appliance during the setting mode,

wherein after the external terminal is connected to the home appliance, a setting frame is displayed at the external terminal to allow a user to input a user identification and a user password, and

after the user inputs the user identification and the user password in the setting frame, the external terminal provides, to the home appliance, the user identification and the user password, and the home appliance changes from the setting mode to the use mode after receiving the user identification and the user password.

2. The home appliance as claimed in claim 1 , wherein when the home appliance is accessed during the setting mode by the external terminal, the external terminal provides the network address information, the user identification, and the user password to the home appliance.

3. The home appliance as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the setting frame displayed at the external terminal allows a user to input service set identification (SSID) information of an access point (AP).

4. The home appliance as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the setting frame displayed at the external terminal allows the user to register the home appliance.

5. The home appliance as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the home appliance changes from the setting mode to the use mode based on service set identifier (SSID) information input at the setting frame displayed at the external terminal.

6. The home appliance as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising:

an input component configured to initiate the setting mode in response to a selection by the user at the input component.

7. The home appliance as claimed in claim 6 , wherein in response to the user selection at the input component, the home appliance displays an indication that the home appliance is in the setting mode.

8. The home appliance of claim 7 , wherein the indication is a display of information specifically referencing the setting mode.

9. The home appliance of claim 7 , wherein in response to the change to the use mode, the home appliance changes the display of the indication to a new indication.

10. The home appliance of claim 9 , wherein the new indication is a display of information specifically referencing the use mode.

11. An online system comprising:

a server;

a home appliance; and

an external terminal, wherein the external terminal is separate from the home appliance and separate from the server, wherein the home appliance communicates with the server and the external terminal, and wherein the home appliance includes:

a wireless communication module for supporting a setting mode for establishing a communication connection with the server and a use mode for communicating with the server through the communication connection,

wherein the home appliance displays network address information of the home appliance,

wherein the wireless communication module is configured to be accessed by the external terminal during the setting mode,

wherein the external terminal provides the network address information to the home appliance and connects to the home appliance during the setting mode,

wherein after the external terminal is connected to the home appliance, the external terminal displays a setting frame to allow a user to input a user identification and a user password, and after the user inputs the user identification and the user password the external terminal provides, to the home appliance, the user identification and the user password, and

after the home appliance receives the user identification and the user password, the home appliance changes from the setting mode to the use mode.

12. The online system as claimed in claim 11 , wherein when the home appliance is accessed during the setting mode by the external terminal, the external terminal provides the network address information, the user identification, and the user password to the home appliance.

13. The online system as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the setting frame displayed at the external terminal allows a user to input service set identification (SSID) information of an access point (AP).

14. The online system as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the setting frame displayed at the external terminal allows the user to register the home appliance.

15. The online system as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the home appliance changes from the setting mode to the use mode based on service set identifier (SSID) information input at the setting frame displayed at the external terminal.

16. The online system as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the home appliance further includes an input component configured to initiate the setting mode in response to a selection by the user at the input component.

17. The online system as claimed in claim 16 , wherein in response to the user selection at the input component, the home appliance displays an indication that the home appliance is in the setting mode.

18. The online system of claim 17 , wherein the indication is a display of information specifically referencing the setting mode.

19. The online system of claim 17 , wherein in response to the change to the use mode, the home appliance changes the display of the indication to a new indication.

20. The online system of claim 19 , wherein the new indication is a display of information specifically referencing the use mode.
