a bonding portion bonded to the back surface of the face portion at a first temperature; and
an elastic polymer material injection molded in the interior cavity to structurally support the face portion during impact with a golf ball,
wherein the elastic polymer material is bonded to the bonding portion at a second temperature greater than the first temperature.
2 . A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the bonding portion is a bonding agent, and wherein the first temperature is within an initial cure state temperature range of the bonding agent.
3 . A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the bonding portion is a bonding agent, and wherein the second temperature is within a final cure state temperature range of the bonding agent.
4 . A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the bonding portion is bonded to the back surface of the face portion before the elastic polymer material is bonded to the bonding portion.
5 . A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the elastic polymer material comprises at least one of a thermoplastic elastomer material or a thermoplastic polyurethane material.
6 . A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the bonding portion comprises a uniform coating or a substantially uniform coating of a bonding agent on the back surface of the face portion.
7 . A golf club head comprising:
a plurality of weight portions;
a body portion having a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a sole portion, a back portion, and a front portion having a face portion with a front surface and a back surface, the plurality of weight portions coupled to the back portion;
an interior cavity extending between the top and sole portions and between the face and back portions;
a bonding portion bonded to the back surface of the face portion; and
an elastic polymer material injection molded in the interior cavity to structurally support the face portion during impact with a golf ball,
wherein the bonding portion is bonded to the face portion before injection molding the elastic polymer material in the interior cavity, and
wherein the elastic polymer material is bonded to the bonding portion after being injection molded in the interior cavity.
8 . A golf club head as defined in claim 7 , wherein the bonding portion is bonded to the face portion at a first temperature, and wherein the elastic polymer material is bonded to the bonding portion at a second temperature higher than the first temperature.
9 . A golf club head as defined in claim 7 , wherein the bonding portion is a bonding agent, and wherein the bonding agent is bonded to the face portion at a temperature within an initial cure state temperature range of the bonding agent.
10 . A golf club head as defined in claim 7 , wherein the bonding portion is a bonding agent, and wherein the elastic polymer material is bonded to the bonding portion at a temperature within a final cure state temperature range of the bonding agent.
11 . A golf club head as defined in claim 7 , wherein the elastic polymer material comprises at least one of a thermoplastic elastomer material or a thermoplastic polyurethane material.
12 . A golf club head as defined in claim 7 , wherein the face portion comprises a thickness extending between the front and back surfaces of less than or equal to 1.5 millimeters (0.06 inch).
13 . A golf club head as defined in claim 7 , wherein the bonding portion comprises a uniform coating or a substantially uniform coating of a bonding agent on the back surface of the face portion.
14 . A method comprising:
providing a golf club head having a body portion having a face portion with a front surface and a back surface, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a sole portion, a back portion, and an interior cavity extending between the top portion, the sole portion, and the back surface of the face portion;
forming a plurality of ports on the back portion of the golf club head;
bonding a bonding portion to the back surface of the face portion at a first temperature;
injection molding an elastic polymer material in the interior cavity after bonding the bonding portion to the back surface of the face portion; and
bonding the elastic polymer material to the bonding portion at a second temperature greater than the first temperature.
15 . A method as defined in claim 14 , wherein bonding the bonding portion comprises:
bonding a bonding agent to the back surface of the face portion at the first temperature; and
heating the bonding agent to the first temperature,
wherein the first temperature is within an initial cure state temperature range of the bonding agent.
16 . A method as defined in claim 14 , wherein the bonding the bonding portion comprises:
bonding a bonding agent to the back surface of the face portion at the first temperature; and
heating the bonding agent to the second temperature,
wherein the second temperature is within a final cure state temperature range of the bonding agent.
17 . A method as defined in claim 14 , further comprising filling the interior cavity of the golf club head with the elastic polymer material from at least one port of the plurality of ports being connected to the interior cavity, and bonding the elastic polymer material to the bonding portion after filling the interior cavity of the golf club head with the elastic polymer material.
