Abstract

Compositions and methods for treatment of Parkinson's disease to reduce the negative side effects of the disease by administering a therapeutically effective diarylmethylpiperazine compound which exhibits delta opioid receptor agonist activity, and optionally, mu receptor antagonist activity.

Claims (2)

1. A transdermal patch affixable to a corporeal locus, comprising a composition for treating Parkinson's disease in a subject experiencing same, the composition consisting of Levodopa and at least one diarylmethylpiperazine compound of formula selected from the group consisting of:

and pharmaceutically acceptable esters and salts wherein the compound of formula (i) or formula (ii) is present in an effective amount to treat Parkinson's disease thereof, wherein the diarylmethylpiperazine compound exhibits delta opioid receptor agonist and mu opioid receptor antagonist activity.
