Abstract

An LED light bulb includes a base board having a first surface and a second surface opposing the first surface. A globe houses the base board. A plurality of light-emitting diodes is arranged on the first surface of the base board. A seal covers the plurality of light-emitting diodes and includes a wavelength conversion material. A first power supply lead and a second power supply lead support the base board. A base is disposed outside of the globe for receiving power.

Claims (75)

1. An LED light bulb comprising:

an elongated filament comprising:

an elongated base board having a first end and a second end at opposed ends of a longitudinal direction of the base board, a first surface, a second surface opposing the first surface and side surfaces extending in the longitudinal direction of the base board;

a plurality of light-emitting diodes arranged on the first surface of the base board; and

an elongated seal including a wavelength conversion material, the seal enclosing all of the plurality of light-emitting diodes;

a globe housing the base board;

a base disposed outside of the globe for receiving power;

a lighting circuit that is provided in the base and causes the plurality of light-emitting diodes to emit light;

a stem comprising a soft glass transparent to visible light;

a first power supply wire and a second power supply wire supporting the base board, the first power supply wire being connected to the first end of the base board on one end and to the lighting circuit on an other end, the second power supply wire being connected to the second end of the base board on one end and to the lighting circuit on an other end, each of the first and second power supply wires comprising a Dumet wire sealed inside the stem; and

wherein the globe has an opening closed by the stem so as to keep the globe airtight,

the first power supply wire and the second power supply wire extend from the elongated filament to the stem, enter into the stem via a longitudinal side surface of the stem, and extend from the stem to the lighting circuit provided in the base via an interior of the stem,

wherein the elongated seal including the wavelength conversion material contacts all of the plurality of light-emitting diodes, and

a cross-section of the elongated seal, that covers the first surface and the side surfaces of the base board, has a semicircular shape that is uniform along the longitudinal direction of the base board.

2. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein

the globe is translucent.

3. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein

the seal further includes a translucent material.

4. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 ,

wherein the stem extends toward an inside of the globe.

5. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 ,

wherein the stem extends toward an inside of the globe,

wherein a width of the stem inside the globe is equal to or greater than a width of the opening of the globe, and

wherein a length of the stem in an extending direction of the stem is greater than the width of the stem.

6. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein

the plurality of light-emitting diodes is arranged in a straight line, and

the seal is provided in a continuous straight line on the plurality of light-emitting diodes.

7. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein

the plurality of light-emitting diodes is not mounted on the second surface of the base board.

8. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein

the base board is suspended in the globe.

9. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein

the base board, the plurality of light-emitting diodes, and the seal comprise a light emitter configured to reproduce a simulated light-emitting property equivalent to a filament in an incandescent light bulb.

10. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein

the first power supply wire and the second power supply wire supply power to the plurality of light-emitting diodes,

one end of the base board includes a first power supply terminal and another end of the base board includes a second power supply terminal, and

the first power supply terminal is fixed to the first power supply wire and the second power supply terminal is fixed to the second power supply wire.

11. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein

each of the plurality of light-emitting diodes includes a sapphire board and a plurality of nitride semiconductor layers stacked on the sapphire board, and is fixed on the base board with the sapphire board facing the first surface of the base board.

12. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein

the plurality of light-emitting diodes is fixed on the base board by a translucent bonding material.

13. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein

the plurality of light-emitting diodes is connected in series by wires, and

each of the wires connects one of the plurality of light-emitting diodes to an adjacent one of the plurality of light-emitting diodes.

14. The LED light bulb according to claim 13 , wherein

each of the wires extends in the longitudinal direction of the base board, and each of the wires is covered by the seal.

15. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a plurality of base boards, with each having respective power supply wires.

16. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein

the elongated seal and the elongated filament have a cylindrical shape.

17. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein

the wavelength conversion material included in the seal is a red phosphor.

18. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein

the base board is flexible.

19. The LED light bulb according to claim 10 , wherein

the first power supply terminal and the first power supply wire are connected by solder, and the second power supply terminal and the second power supply wire are connected by solder.

20. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein the elongated seal including the wavelength conversion material comprises a single layer extending from the plurality of light emitting diodes to an outer-most surface of the semicircular shape.

21. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein the elongated seal further encloses the entire base board.

22. The LED light bulb according to claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second power supply wires is a composite wire including an internal lead wire, the Dumet wire and an external lead wire joined in this order, and

the internal lead wire and the external lead wire are copper wires, different from Dumet wire.

23. An LED light bulb comprising:

an elongated filament comprising:

an elongated base board having a first end and a second end at opposed ends of a longitudinal direction of the base board, a first surface and a second surface opposing the first surface;

a plurality of light-emitting diodes arranged on the first surface of the base board;

wires that connect the light-emitting diodes in series, each of the wires extending in the longitudinal direction of the base board to connect one of the plurality of light-emitting diodes to an adjacent one of the plurality of light-emitting diodes; and

an elongated seal including a wavelength conversion material, the seal enclosing all of the plurality of light-emitting diodes and the entire base board, and enclosing the wires extending in the longitudinal direction of the base board;

a globe housing the base board;

a base disposed outside of the globe for receiving power;

a lighting circuit that is provided in the base and causes the plurality of light-emitting diodes to emit light;

a stem comprising a soft glass transparent to visible light;

a first power supply wire and a second power supply wire supporting the base board, the first power supply wire being connected to the first end of the base board on one end and to the lighting circuit on an other end, the second power supply wire being connected to the second end of the base board on one end and to the lighting circuit on an other end, each of the first and second power supply wires comprising a Dumet wire sealed inside the stem; and

wherein the globe has an opening closed by the stem so as to keep the globe airtight,

the first power supply wire and the second power supply wire extend from the elongated filament to the stem, enter into the stem via a longitudinal side surface of the stem, and extend from the stem to the lighting circuit provided in the base via an interior of the stem,

wherein the elongated seal enclosing the entire base board contacts all of the plurality of light-emitting diodes, and

a cross-section of the elongated seal above the first surface of the base board, which encloses the wires extending in the longitudinal direction of the base board, has a semicircular shape that is uniform along the longitudinal direction of the base board.
