Abstract

A wireless media player and a related system and methodology are provided. One aspect of the wireless media player system pertains to a virtual connector system, apparatus, and method for the automatic establishment of wireless connectivity with other electronic devices. In one embodiment, the media player device displays one of the stored display content, communicates configuration information with at least one target device via a proximity wireless link, establishes a communication link with the at least one target device in accordance with the configuration information communicated via the proximity wireless link and transmits a content which corresponds to the display content being displayed on the display unit at a time of establishing the proximity wireless link to the at least one target device over the established communication link.

Claims (39)

1. A capturing device comprising:

a first communication unit configured to communicate configuration information with an external device via proximity communication;

a second communication unit configured to communicate with the external device via wireless communication;

a capturing unit; and

a control unit configured to control the capturing unit to capture live contents;

wherein the second communication unit establishes a communication with the external device in accordance with the configuration information communicated via the first communication unit, and

wherein, after the second communication unit establishes the communication with the external device, the capturing unit starts a real-time capture for the live contents and the second communication unit transmits the live contents to the external device.

2. The capturing device according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a storing unit configured to store image contents captured by the capturing unit.

3. The capturing device according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a storing unit configured to store image contents captured by the capturing unit in parallel of the transmission of the live contents.

4. The capturing device according to claim 1 , further comprising:

wherein the control unit receives an instruction for selecting either one of a plurality of modes including a first mode in which the live contents are captured by the capturing unit, and

wherein, in a case where the control unit receives an instruction to select the first mode, the control unit controls the capturing unit to start the real-time capture for the live contents.

5. The capturing device according to claim 4 ,

wherein the control unit displays a screen which receives the instruction to select the first mode, and

wherein the control unit controls the screen to include therein a display showing that the capturing device is being connected to the external device.

6. The capturing device according to claim 5 ,

wherein the display indicates a type of the external device to which the capturing device is being connected.

7. The capturing device according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a network connecting unit configured to connect to internet,

wherein the control unit receives an instruction for selecting either one of a plurality of modes including a first mode in which the live contents are captured by the capturing unit, and a second mode in which the capturing device downloads contents from the internet via the network connecting unit, and

wherein, in a case where the control unit receives an instruction to select the first mode, the control unit controls the capturing unit to start the real-time capture for the live contents.

8. The capturing device according to claim 1 , wherein

communication speed of a first communication unit is faster than communication speed of a second communication unit.

9. The capturing device according to claim 1 , wherein

the capturing unit is situated on back-side of the capturing device.

10. The capturing device according to claim 1 , wherein

the first communication unit functions as a reader and a writer of NFC.

11. The capturing device according to claim 10 , further comprising:

a speaker,

wherein, in a case where the first communication unit reads data from the external device, the speaker emits sound.

12. The capturing device according to claim 1 , wherein

the first communication unit supplies power to the external device.

13. The capturing device according to claim 1 , wherein

the second communication unit transmits contents to the external device in a format processable by the external device.

14. The capturing device according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a memory configured to store the configuration information,

wherein the second communication unit is able to reuse the configuration information in the memory.
