Abstract

Various embodiments relate to an apparatus for controlling a lighting device. A light control circuit can use a controlled lighting sequence control and drive viewed sections of a lighting device to display chroma key color or emit infrared light, while driving other unviewed portions of the lighting device to display ambient and incident lighting. The viewed and unviewed lighting sections can be based on the field of vision of an image capture device and can change in relation to movements of the image capture device. A sensor can make measurements to determine the field of vision of the image capture device and can be used to generate or modify the controlled lighting sequence. An image processing circuit can generate a composite image using the chroma key while maintaining the subjects that are captured using ambient and incident lighting.

Claims (61)

1. A method of controlling a video display, comprising:

receiving a signal from a sensor operably connected to a video capture device;

determining a field of vision of the video capture device based on the signal;

determining a viewed portion of the video display that is within the field of vision of the video capture device;

determining an unviewed portion of the video display that is not within the field of vision of the video capture device; and

controlling the video display to emit light in the viewed portion according to a viewed portion profile and emit light in the unviewed portion according to at least one of an ambient light profile and an incident light profile.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

detecting a change in the field of vision of the video capture device; and

changing one or both of a size and location of one or both of the viewed portion and the unviewed portion of the video display based on the change in the field of vision.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the signal is at least one of a video capture device aperture setting signal, a shutter speed signal, a video frame rate signal, a view angle signal, a movement signal, or a location signal.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the sensor is a light sensor and the signal is based on light measurements.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the controlling the video display to emit light in the unviewed portion includes controlling the video display to emit light in the unviewed portion to create ambient lighting in a scene recorded by the video capture device that emulates an ambient source.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the viewed portion profile includes at least one of a chroma key color and video.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising controlling the video display to alternate between at least two of displaying infrared light, a chroma key color, and video.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the alternating occurs over two or more sequential frames captured by the video capture device in a single recording session.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising synchronizing the viewed portion profile and the ambient light profile and/or the an incident light profile.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving a light measurement signal from a light sensor and generating an incident light profile based on the light measurement signal.

11. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a light measurement signal from a light sensor;

detecting, using the light measurement signal, shadow areas within the field of vision of the video capture device; and

changing light characteristics of the video display to change or eliminate the detected shadow areas.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the viewed portion profile and the ambient light profile is reference images or video stored in association with corresponding global positioning system coordinates.

13. The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the viewed portion profile, ambient light profile or incident light profile is a controlled video or computer-generated sequence generated as a function of at least two sets of global positioning system coordinates associated with a route and corresponding respective reference images or video.

14. A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium containing machine-readable instructions configured to cause a processor of a display system to perform operations comprising:

receiving a signal from a sensor operably connected to a video capture device;

determining a field of vision of the video capture device based on the signal;

determining a viewed portion of a video display that is within the field of vision of the video capture device;

determining an unviewed portion of the video display that is not within the field of vision of the video capture device; and

controlling the video display to emit light in the viewed portion according to a viewed portion profile and emit light in the unviewed portion according to at least one of an ambient light profile and an incident light profile.

15. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the controlling the video display to emit light in the unviewed portion includes controlling the video display to emit light in the unviewed portion to create ambient lighting in a scene recorded by the video capture device that emulates an ambient source.

16. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 14 , the operations further comprising synchronizing the viewed portion profile and the ambient light profile and/or the incident light profile.

17. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein at least one of the viewed portion profile and the ambient light profile is reference images or video stored in association with corresponding global positioning system coordinates.

18. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein at least one of the viewed portion profile, ambient light profile or incident light profile is a controlled video or computer-generated sequence generated as a function of at least two sets of global positioning system coordinates associated with a route and corresponding respective reference images or video.

19. The method of claim 1 , wherein controlling the video display to emit light in the viewed portion includes displaying video.

20. The method of claim 1 , wherein controlling the video display to emit light in the unviewed portion includes displaying video.

21. A method of controlling a video display, comprising:

receiving a signal from a sensor operably connected to a video capture device;

determining a field of vision of the video capture device based on the signal;

determining a viewed portion of the video display that is within the field of vision of the video capture device;

determining an unviewed portion of the video display that is not within the field of vision of the video capture device; and

controlling the video display to display images according to a first video or lighting signal in the viewed portion and display images according to a second video or lighting signal that is different than the first video or lighting signal in the unviewed portion.

22. The method of claim 21 , further comprising:

detecting a change in the field of vision of the video capture device; and
