a) one or more pharmaceutical actives, wherein at least one of the one or more pharmaceutical actives is phenylephrine;

b) artificial sweetener selected from the group consisting of sucralose, saccharine salts, cyclamates, acesulfame K, dipeptide based sweeteners, aspartame and mixtures thereof;

c) up to 45% w/v of glycerin; and

d) 3% w/v to about 10% w/v sorbitol of,

wherein the glycerin to sorbitol ratio as a weight % of the composition is about 2:1 to about 10:1;

wherein each of the one or more pharmaceutical actives is a water-soluble pharmaceutical active;

wherein the solution is substantially free of phenylephrine degradants as measured under conditions of 40° C. and 75% relative humidity for 1 month; and

wherein the solution is free of high fructose corn syrup.

2. The solution of claim 1 , wherein the glycerin to sorbitol ratio as a weight % of the composition is about 2:1 to about 5:1.

3. The solution of claim 1 , wherein the artificial sweetener comprises sucralose.

4. The solution of claim 1 , further comprising an effective amount of at least one second active agent selected from the group consisting of analgesics, decongestants, expectorants, anti-tussives, antipyretics, anti-inflammatory agents, cough suppressants and antihistamines.

5. The solution of claim 4 , wherein the second active agent is selected from the group consisting of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), propionic acid derivatives, ibuprofen, naproxen, ketoprofen, flurbiprofen, fenoprofen, suprofen, flurprofen, fenbufen; acetic acid derivatives, tolmetin sodium, zomepirac, sulindac, indomethacin, fenamic acid derivatives, mefenamic acid meclofenamate sodium, biphenyl carboxylic acid derivatives, diflunisal, flufenisal, oxicams, piroxicam, sudoxicam, isoxicam, chlorpheniramine, brompheniramine; dexchlorpheniramine, dexbrompheniramine, triprolidine, chlorcyclizine, diphenhydramine, doxylamine, tripelennamine, cyproheptadine, bromodiphenhydramine, phenindamine, pyrilamine, azatadine, acrivastine, astemizole, azelastine, cetirizine, ebastine, fexofenadine, ketotifen, carbinoxamine, desloratadine, loratadine, pheniramine, thonzylamine, mizolastine, terfenadine, chlophedianol, caramiphen, dextromethorphan, diphenhydramine, codeine, hydrocodone, pseudoephedrine, ephedrine, phenylephrine, phenylpropanolamine, terpin hydrate, guaifenesin, potassium, potassium guaiacolsulfonate, Cox 2 inhibitors, celecoxib, rofecoxib, valdecoxib, aspirin, acetaminophen, phenacetin, salicylate salts and combination thereof.

6. The solution of claim 5 , wherein the at least one second active agent is selected from the group consisting of chlorpheniramine, dextromethorphan, guaifenesin, acetaminophen, chlophedianol, diphenhydramine, brompheniramine, loratadine, aspirin, and doxylamine succinate.

7. The solution of claim 1 , further comprising up to about 1.25% w/v citric acid.

8. The solution of claim 1 , further comprising up to about 0.2% w/v propyl gallate.

9. The solution of claim 1 , wherein the solution is substantially free of phenylephrine degradants as measured under conditions of 40° C. and 75% relative humidity for approximately six months.

10. The solution of claim 1 , wherein the solution further comprises xanthan.

11. The solution of claim 10 , wherein the solution further comprises guaifenesin.

12. The solution of claim 11 , wherein the solution further comprises acetaminophen.

13. The solution of claim 12 , wherein the solution further comprises dextromethorphan.

14. The solution of claim 12 , wherein the solution further comprises diphenhydramine.

15. The solution of claim 1 , wherein the solution further comprises guaifenesin.

16. The solution of claim 15 , wherein the solution further comprises acetaminophen.

17. The solution of claim 16 , wherein the solution further comprises dextromethorphan.

18. The solution of claim 16 , wherein the solution further comprises diphenhydramine.
