Abstract

Various aspects of the disclosure relate to controlling allocations for independent links. For example, a device may dynamically control the uplink/downlink allocations for different links. In some aspects, the independent links may involve a first device (e.g., a user equipment) communicating via different independent links with different devices (e.g., transmit receive points (TRPs) or sets of TRPs). At least one device may signal the uplink/downlink allocation for the different links. If the isolation between links is high, the links may use different time division duplexed (TDD) or frequency division duplexed (FDD) subframe structures. If the isolation is low or for certain types of information (e.g., control information), the direction of transmission for one link may be constrained to be the same as the direction of transmission for another link (e.g., the links may use the same TDD/FDD frame structures). Also, sounding on different links may be time division multiplexed.

Claims (37)

1. A method of communication for an apparatus, comprising:

determining an interaction between a first wireless communication link and a second wireless communication link,

wherein the interaction is characterized by an amount of radio frequency (RF) isolation between the first wireless communication link and the second wireless communication link;

wherein communication via the first wireless communication link is independent of communication via the second wireless communication link; and

allocating at least one resource for at least one of the first wireless communication link or the second wireless communication link, wherein the allocation is based on the determined interaction;

wherein, if the RF isolation is greater than an RF isolation threshold, the allocation comprises:

designating the communication via the first wireless communication link to be in a first direction for a particular symbol time; and

designating the communication via the second wireless communication link to be in the first direction for the particular symbol time.

2. A method of communication for an apparatus, comprising:

determining an interaction between a first wireless communication link and a second wireless communication link,

wherein the interaction is characterized by an amount of radio frequency (RF) isolation between the first wireless communication link and the second wireless communication link;

wherein communication via the first wireless communication link is independent of communication via the second wireless communication link; and

allocating at least one resource for at least one of the first wireless communication link or the second wireless communication link, wherein the allocation is based on the determined interaction:

wherein, if the RF isolation is less than an RF isolation threshold, the allocation comprises:

designating uplink sounding for the first wireless communication link to be time division multiplexed within a sub-frame.

3. A method of communication for an apparatus, comprising:

determining an interaction between a first wireless communication link and a second wireless communication link,

wherein communication via the first wireless communication link is independent of communication via the second wireless communication link; and

allocating at least one resource for at least one of the first wireless communication link or the second wireless communication link, wherein the allocation is based on the determined interaction;

wherein the allocation comprises:

identifying a protected portion for the first wireless communication link; and

limiting transmission on the second wireless communication link for a subset of frequency resources associated with the protected portion.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the limiting of transmission comprises reducing transmit power or temporarily ceasing transmission.

5. The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

coordinating the protected portion with at least one other apparatus.

6. An apparatus comprising:

a memory; and

a processor coupled to the memory, the processor and the memory configured to:

determine an amount of radio frequency (RF) isolation between a first wireless communication link and a second wireless communication link, wherein communication via the first wireless communication link is independent of communication via the second wireless communication link; and

allocate at least one resource for at least one of the first wireless communication link or the second wireless communication link, the allocation comprising:

based on the RF isolation satisfying an RF isolation threshold, at least one one of:

designating the communication via the first wireless communication link to be in a first direction for a particular symbol time and designating the communication via the second wireless communication link to be in the first direction for the particular symbol time; or

designating uplink sounding for the first wireless communication link to be time division multiplexed within a sub-frame.

7. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the RF isolation satisfies the RF isolation threshold when the RF isolation is greater than an RF isolation threshold; and wherein the allocation comprises:

designating the communication via the first wireless communication link to be in a first direction for a particular symbol time and designating the communication via the second wireless communication link to be in the first direction for the particular symbol time.

8. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the RF isolation satisfies the RF isolation threshold when the RF isolation is less than an RF isolation threshold; and wherein the allocation comprises:

designating uplink sounding for the first wireless communication link to be time division multiplexed within a sub-frame.
