Abstract

A mobile communication technology, and, more particularly, a method for efficiently transmitting data stored in a message 3 (Msg3) buffer and a user equipment for the same is disclosed. The method of transmitting data by a user equipment in uplink includes receiving an uplink (UP) Grant signal from a base station on a specific message, determining whether there is data stored in a message 3 (Msg3) buffer when receiving the UL Grant signal on the specific message, determining whether the specific message is a random access response message, and transmitting the data stored in the Msg3 buffer to the base station using the UL Grant signal received on the specific message, if there is data stored in the Msg3 buffer when receiving the UL Grant signal on the specific message and the specific message is the random access response message.

Claims (44)

1. A method to transmit data by a user equipment through an uplink channel in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

receiving an uplink grant (UL Grant) at the user equipment from a base station on a specific message; and

determining to not perform a retransmission; and

further comprising:

transmitting, by the user equipment to the base station in accordance with the UL Grant received on the specific message, Message 3 (Msg3) buffer data when at least the UL Grant is received on the specific message, the specific message is the random access response message and there is data stored in a Msg3 buffer of the user equipment,

transmitting, by the user equipment to the base station, new data when at least the UL Grant is received on the specific message, the specific message is other than the random access response message and there is data stored in the Msg3 buffer of the user equipment,

transmitting, by the user equipment to the base station, new data when at least the UL Grant is received on the specific message, the specific message is other than the random access response message and there is no data stored in the Msg3 buffer of the user equipment, and

transmitting, by the user equipment to the base station, new data when at least the UL Grant is received on the random access response message, the specific message is the random access response message and there is no data stored in the Msg3 buffer of the user equipment.

2. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving another UL Grant signal on a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH); and

transmitting the new data to the base station in correspondence with the another UL Grant signal.

3. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the transmitting the new data to the base station includes:

acquiring a Medium Access Control Protocol Data Unit (MAC PDU) from a multiplexing and assembly unit; and

transmitting the MAC PDU to the base station.

4. The method according to claim 2 , further comprising receiving the another UL Grant signal on the PDCCH related to one of Cell-Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI) and Temporary Cell-RNTI.

5. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the data stored in the Msg3 buffer is a Medium Access Control Protocol Data Unit (MAC PDU) including a user equipment identifier.

6. The method according to claim 5 , wherein the data stored in the Msg3 buffer further includes information about a buffer status report (BSR) when the user equipment starts a random access procedure for the BSR.

7. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the data is a Medium Access Control Protocol Data Unit (MAC PDU).

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining whether information about the received UL Grant signal is associated with a Transmission Time Intervals (TTIs).

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein when there is information about the received UL Grant signal associated with the Transmission Time Intervals (TTIs), checking one or more of a Radio Network Temporary Identifier, a New Data Indicator and/or a Random Access Response message.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein when there is no information about the received UL Grant signal associated with the Transmission Time Intervals (TTIs), performing a non-adaptive retransmission.

11. The method of claim 1 , further comprising identifying a HARQ (Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request) process.

12. A system configured to transmit data by a user equipment through an uplink channel in a mobile communication environment comprising:

the user equipment receiving an uplink grant (UL Grant) from a base station on a specific message, the user equipment further

determining to not perform a retransmission; and

further comprising:

the user equipment transmitting to the base station in accordance with the UL Grant received on the specific message, Message 3 (Msg3) buffer data when at least the UL Grant is received on the specific message, the specific message is the random access response message and there is data stored in a Msg3 buffer of the user equipment,

the user equipment transmitting to the base station new data when at least the UL Grant is received on the specific message, the specific message is other than the random access response message and there is data stored in the Msg3 buffer of the user equipment,

the user equipment transmitting to the base station new data when at least the UL Grant is received on the specific message, the specific message is other than the random access response message and there is no data stored in the Msg3 buffer of the user equipment, and

the user equipment transmitting to the base station new data when at least the UL Grant is received on the random access response message, the specific message is the random access response message and there is no data stored in the Msg3 buffer of the user equipment.

13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the user equipment

receives another UL Grant signal on a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH); and

transmits the new data to the base station in correspondence with the another UL Grant signal.

14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the transmission of the new data to the base station includes:

acquiring a Medium Access Control Protocol Data Unit (MAC PDU) from a multiplexing and assembly unit; and

transmitting the MAC PDU to the base station.

15. The system of claim 13 , wherein the user equipment receives the another UL Grant signal on the PDCCH related to one of Cell-Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI) and Temporary Cell-RNTI.

16. The system of claim 12 , wherein the data stored in the Msg3 buffer is a Medium Access Control Protocol Data Unit (MAC PDU) including a user equipment identifier.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the data stored in the Msg3 buffer further includes information about a buffer status report (BSR) when the user equipment starts a random access procedure for the BSR.

18. The system of claim 12 , wherein the data is a Medium Access Control Protocol Data Unit (MAC PDU).

19. The system of claim 12 , further comprising the user equipment making a determination whether information about the received UL Grant signal is associated with a Transmission Time Intervals (TTIs).

20. The system of claim 19 , wherein when there is information about the received UL Grant signal associated with the Transmission Time Intervals (TTIs), checking one or more of a Radio Network Temporary Identifier, a New Data Indicator and/or a Random Access Response message.
