Abstract

A method and system of tracking and reporting locations of entity employees, the method for use with at least a first interface device including a display screen, the method comprising the steps of, providing a processor programmed to perform the steps of, storing schedules of entity employees where the schedules indicate scheduled locations of employees during time slots, receiving an indication from a first employee indicating at least a first future time slot, identifying locations of the entity employees during the future time slot, using the schedules of entity employees to generate a location representation indicating the locations of at least a subset of the entity employees during the at least a first future time slot and presenting the location representation via the first interface device.

Claims (40)

1. A method for identifying space resources and scheduling space resources in real time using a portable device in communication with a database, the method comprising the steps of:

displaying a plurality of icons corresponding to a plurality of predefined space types, each of the icons enabling selection of one of the corresponding plurality of predefined space types through the user input device;

receiving data from a user selecting an icon specifying a space type of the plurality of predefined space types for scheduling;

displaying a listing a at least one space corresponding to the selected space type on a display screen of the portable device;

displaying a corresponding status indicator for the at least one space on the display screen, wherein the status indicator provides a visual indicator of whether the at least one space is at least one of occupied, booked, or available for use; and

receiving input at the portable device for booking the at least one space at a selected time.

2. The system of claim 1 further comprising a beg for a space icon selectable by a user to request access to the at least one space when the at least one space has a status indicator that is occupied or booked.

3. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a natural language interface provided on the display screen.

4. The system of claim 1 wherein the visual indicator comprises at least one of a color and an emphasized font.

5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the emphasized font comprises at least one of an italicized font and a bold font.

6. The system of claim 1 wherein the space types comprise at least one of a private phone booth, a private video booth, a small meeting room, a meeting room with video, and a large meeting room.

7. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a participant field configured to identify a number of participants for a meeting.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to monitor the space to determine whether a user that booked the space has entered the space, and to transmit a message to confirm a need to maintain the booking.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is programmed to evaluate stored rules to transmit a message to the user who booked a space within a predetermined time of the reserved time.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the status indicators include a red status indicator corresponding to spaces that are occupied, a yellow status indicator corresponding to spaces that are booked but unoccupied, and a green status indicator corresponding to spaces that are neither booked nor occupied.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to monitor a booking time for a space and to transmit a message to the user that booked the space at a predetermined time before the booking time.

12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to monitor a booking time for a space, to monitor a location of a user that booked the space and to transmit a message to the user that booked the space at a predetermined time before the booking time when the user is not within a predetermined distance of the space.

13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to display a floor plan on the display space, the floor plan including an illustration of each the spaces available to be booked within an enterprise and the status indicators corresponding to the spaces.

14. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to provide additional information about a space including at least one of a general description, a schedule, a time indicator, and a map for display on the display screen.

15. A computerized system for identifying space resources and scheduling space resources in real time, the computerized system comprising:

a display screen;

a user input device; and

a processor coupled to the display screen and the user input device, wherein the processor is programmed to:

provide a natural language interface comprising a statement including at least one qualifier for identifying a space on the display screen,

receive data from the user input device altering the qualifier to specify characteristics of a space;

identify at least one space corresponding to the qualifiers; and

list the identified space on the display screen with a corresponding status indicator, wherein the status indicator provides a visual indicator of whether each of the plurality of spaces in the space list is at least one of occupied, booked, or available for use; and

provide a beg for a space icon selectable by a user to request access to the space having a status indicator that is occupied or booked.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the at least one qualifier is visually distinguished on the display screen.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the at least one qualifier is visually distinguished with at least one of a shape drawn around the qualifier, highlighting the qualifier with a color, underlining the qualifier, or displaying the qualifier in a bold text.

18. The system of claim 16 , wherein the at least one qualifier comprises at least one of an activity type field, a participant field, a start field, and a time field.

19. A computerized system for identifying space resources and scheduling space resources in real time, the computerized system comprising:

a display screen;

a user input device; and

a processor coupled to the display screen and the user input device, wherein the processor is programmed to:

provide a listing on the display screen of a plurality of spaces corresponding to the selected space type, each of the plurality of spaces in the listing including a corresponding status indicator, wherein the status indicator provides a visual indicator of whether each of the plurality of spaces in the space list is at least one of occupied, booked, or available for use;

receive data from the user input device requesting access to a space having a status indicator that is occupied or booked; and

transmit a message to a user who occupied or booked the requested space requesting that the user that occupied or booked the space release the space to the user requesting the space; and

provide a beg for a space icon selectable by a user to request access to the space having a status indicator that is occupied or booked.

20. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is programmed to display a plurality of icons corresponding to a plurality of predefined space types, each of the icons enabling selection of one of the corresponding plurality of predefined space types through the user input device.
