Abstract

Various methods and systems are provided for an oil filter system for a vehicle system. In one example, an oil filter system comprises a housing within which a plurality of oil filter elements are disposed and a frame supporting the housing, the frame including one or more mountings configured to support one or more vehicle sub-assemblies.

Claims (14)

1. A fleet of vehicles, comprising:

a first group of vehicles with a first rated engine emissions level and a first oil filter interface;

a second group of vehicles with a higher, second rated engine emissions level and a second oil filter interface, wherein the second oil filter interface is different than the first oil filter interface; and

a first oil filter with a first pore size, the first oil filter fittable to both the first oil filter interface and the second oil filter interface.

2. The fleet of vehicles of claim 1 , further comprising a second oil filter with a second pore size that is larger than the first pore size, wherein the second oil filter is only fittable to the second oil filter interface.

3. The fleet of vehicles of claim 2 , wherein the first oil filter interface has a first oil filter mount with a linearly outwardly projecting step surrounding a first cylindrical projecting tube and the second oil filter interface has a second oil filter mount with a second cylindrical projecting tube.

4. The fleet of vehicles of claim 3 , wherein a neck of the first oil filter is wider than the first oil filter mount and the second oil filter mount.

5. The fleet of vehicles of claim 3 , wherein the second oil filter interface lacks a linearly outwardly projecting step surrounding the second cylindrical projecting tube.

6. The fleet of vehicles of claim 3 , wherein:

the second oil filter interface lacks a linearly outwardly projecting step surrounding the second cylindrical projecting tube;

a neck of the first oil filter is wider than the linearly outwardly projecting step of the first oil filter mount and the second oil filter mount;

a neck of the second oil filter is wider than the second oil filter mount but not the linearly outwardly projecting step of the first oil filter mount, wherein when the second oil filter is disposed over the first oil filter mount, the linearly outwardly projecting step of the first oil filter mount interferes with the neck of the second oil filter and the second oil filter extends out past a door of a housing associated with the first oil interface and the door of the housing cannot be secured to close the housing.

7. The fleet of vehicles of claim 2 , wherein the second pore size is 28 microns.

8. The fleet of vehicles of claim 2 , wherein the second pore size is 12 microns.
