Abstract

A mobile power generation system includes a trailer, a gas turbine housed inside the trailer, an electrical generator coupled to the gas turbine to generate electricity, an exhaust silencer system configured to receive exhaust has from the gas turbine, and a noise attenuation assembly coupled to and in fluid communication with the exhaust silencer system. The exhaust silencer system may be attached to a front end of the trailer and may include a diffuser system, a lower exhaust elbow silencer coupled to and in fluid communication with the diffuser system, and an upper exhaust elbow in fluid communication with the lower exhaust elbow silencer and comprising an outlet. The noise attenuation assembly includes an exhaust silencer unit mounted to a top end of the trailer. The exhaust silencer unit includes an inlet in fluid communication with the outlet of the upper exhaust elbow of the exhaust silencer system.

Claims (70)

1. A mobile power generation system comprising:

a trailer including a rear end, a front end, a bottom end, and a top end defining therebetween an interior space, the top end comprising a plurality of inlets;

a gas turbine housed inside the trailer in the interior space;

an electrical generator coupled to the gas turbine to generate electricity and housed inside the trailer in the interior space;

an exhaust silencer system configured to receive exhaust gas from the gas turbine, the exhaust silencer system attached to the front end of the trailer, the exhaust silencer system comprising:

a diffuser system,

a lower exhaust elbow silencer coupled to the diffuser system and comprising an outlet configured to release exhaust gas, and

an upper exhaust elbow in fluid communication with the lower exhaust elbow silencer and comprising an outlet configured to release exhaust gas; and

a noise attenuation assembly in fluid communication with the exhaust silencer system, the noise attenuation assembly mounted to the top end of the trailer and comprising (i) an inlet in fluid communication with the outlet of the upper exhaust elbow of the exhaust silencer system and (ii) an exhaust silencer unit, the exhaust silencer unit comprising a pair of coupled silencer components mounted lengthwise along the top end of the trailer.

2. The mobile power generation system of claim 1 , wherein the lower exhaust elbow silencer comprises:

a bottom end configured to receive exhaust gas from the diffuser system;

a side portion angled upwardly with respect to the bottom end;

a top end comprising the outlet; and

a vertical space defined between the bottom end and the top end and comprising a plurality of baffles configured to attenuate noise, the outlet of the top end comprising a plurality of spacings defined by and between the plurality of baffles.

3. The mobile power generation system of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of baffles are configured to be distributed in a parallel arrangement in the vertical space.

4. The mobile power generation system of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of baffles each comprising a thickness in a thickness range of from about six inches to about eight inches.

5. The mobile power generation system of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of baffles comprise:

closed top ends respectively defining the plurality of spacings; and

bottom ends curving toward a direction of exhaust air intake.

6. The mobile power generation system of claim 5 , wherein the bottom ends of the plurality of baffles are closed and comprise a pointed configuration.

7. The mobile power generation system of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of baffles each comprise at least one of a stainless steel and fiberglass material.

8. The mobile power generation system of claim 1 , wherein the upper exhaust elbow comprises an upper portion attached to the noise attenuation assembly and angled with respect to the lower exhaust elbow silencer.

9. The mobile power generation system of claim 1 , wherein the exhaust silencer unit comprises a turbine exhaust opening disposed at the rear end of the trailer.

10. The mobile power generation system of claim 9 , wherein each silencer component comprises:

a central opening extending between respective ends;

a first frame portion surrounding the central opening comprising a perforated stainless steel;

a second frame portion surrounding the first frame portion and comprising an acoustical insulation material; and

a third frame portion surrounding the second frame portion and comprising an outer enclosure.

11. The mobile power generation system of claim 10 , wherein the acoustical insulation material comprises fiberglass and is configured to absorb noise energy.

12. The mobile power generation system of claim 10 , wherein a plurality of metal studs connect one or more of the first frame portion, the second frame portion, and the third frame portion to each another, the third frame comprises steel, or combinations thereof.

13. The mobile power generation system of claim 9 , wherein each silencer component comprises a height of four feet, a width of eight feet, and a length of twenty feet.

14. The mobile power generation system of claim 9 , the noise attenuation assembly further comprising:

a plurality of silencer hoods disposed along outer edges of and extending upwardly with respect to the exhaust silencer unit;

the plurality of silencer hoods respectively comprising air inlets disposed at a top end of each silencer hood;

each air inlet at each top end of each silencer hood is in fluid communication with a corresponding air inlet disposed on a side panel of the trailer; and

the side panel disposed below the top end and between the rear end and the front end of the trailer.

The mobile power generation system of claim 1 , wherein the diffuser system comprises a diffuser and a collector, the collector coupled to and in fluid communication with the lower exhaust elbow silencer, the diffuser configured to reduce a speed and decrease a pressure of exhaust gas and direct said exhaust gas into the collector.

16. A mobile power generation system comprising:

a trailer comprising:

a rear end, a front end, a bottom end, and a top end; and

a pair of side panels disposed between the rear end and the front end, and disposed below the top end and above the bottom end of the trailer; and

the rear end, the front end, the bottom end, the top end, and the pair of side panels defining therebetween an interior space;

a gas turbine housed inside the trailer in the interior space;

an electrical generator coupled to the gas turbine to generate electricity and housed inside the trailer in the interior space;

an exhaust silencer system configured to receive exhaust gas from the gas turbine, the exhaust silencer system attached to the front end of the trailer, the exhaust silencer system comprising:

a diffuser system,

a lower exhaust elbow silencer coupled to and in fluid communication with the diffuser system; and

an upper exhaust elbow in fluid communication with the lower exhaust elbow silencer and comprising an outlet; and

a noise attenuation assembly comprising an exhaust silencer unit mounted to the top end of the trailer, the exhaust silencer unit comprising an inlet in fluid communication with the outlet of the upper exhaust elbow of the exhaust silencer system, wherein the exhaust silencer unit comprises a pair of coupled silencer components mounted lengthwise along the top end of the trailer.

17. The mobile power generation system of claim 16 , wherein the exhaust silencer unit further comprises:

a turbine exhaust opening disposed at the rear end of the trailer.

18. The mobile power generation system of claim 16 , wherein the noise attenuation assembly further comprises:

a plurality of silencer hoods disposed along outer edges of and extending upwardly with respect to the exhaust silencer unit;

the plurality of silencer hoods respectively comprising air inlets disposed at a top end of each silencer hood; and

each air inlet at each top end of each silencer hood is in fluid communication with a corresponding air inlet disposed along an upper portion of one of the pair of side panels of the trailer.

19. A mobile power generation system comprising:

a trailer comprising:

a rear end, a front end, a bottom end, and a top end; and

a pair of side panels disposed between the rear end and the front end, and disposed below the top end and above the bottom end of the trailer; and

the rear end, the front end, the bottom end, the top end, and the pair of side panels defining therebetween an interior space;

a gas turbine housed inside the trailer in the interior space;

an electrical generator coupled to the gas turbine to generate electricity and housed inside the trailer in the interior space;

an exhaust silencer system configured to receive exhaust gas from the gas turbine, the exhaust silencer system attached to the front end of the trailer, the exhaust silencer system comprising:

a diffuser system,

a lower exhaust elbow silencer coupled to and in fluid communication with the diffuser system; and

an upper exhaust elbow in fluid communication with the lower exhaust elbow silencer and comprising an outlet; and

a noise attenuation assembly comprising an exhaust silencer unit mounted to the top end of the trailer, the exhaust silencer unit comprising an inlet in fluid communication with the outlet of the upper exhaust elbow of the exhaust silencer system, wherein the noise attenuation assembly further comprises a plurality of silencer hoods disposed along outer edges of and extending upwardly with respect to the exhaust silencer unit.

20. The mobile power generation system of claim 19 , wherein

the plurality of silencer hoods respectively comprising air inlets disposed at a top end of each silencer hood; and

each air inlet at each top end of each silencer hood is in fluid communication with a corresponding air inlet disposed along an upper portion of one of the pair of side panels of the trailer.
