Abstract

Described are novel salts of the compound (3R,4R,5S)-5-(difluoromethyl) piperidine-3,4-diol, as well as methods of using the same for preventing and/or treating lysosomal storage disorders and/or degenerative disorders of the central nervous system. In particular, the present invention provides methods for preventing and/or treating Gaucher's disease and/or Parkinson's disease.

Claims (22)

1. A tosylate salt of (3R,4R,5S)-5-(difluoromethyl)piperidine-3,4-diol with a melting point in the range of about 174.9° C. to about 178.2° C.

2. The tosylate salt of claim 1 , wherein the tosylate salt has a peak melting point of about 176.5° C.

3. A crystalline form of a tosylate salt of (3R,4R,5S)-5-(difluoromethyl)piperidine-3,4-diol having an X-ray diffraction pattern comprising characteristic peaks at:

17.38 ± 0.2

17.74 ± 0.2

20.18 ± 0.2

23.74 ± 0.2

 25.22 ± 0.2.

4. The crystalline form of claim 3 , wherein the X-ray diffraction pattern further comprises characteristic peaks at:

 9.34 ± 0.2

18.70 ± 0.2

19.58 ± 0.2

 20.62 ± 0.2.

5. The crystalline form of claim 4 , wherein the X-ray diffraction pattern further comprises characteristic peaks at:

2-Theta (Degrees)

16.14 ± 0.2

21.62 ± 0.2

26.18 ± 0.2

 28.22 ± 0.2.

6. A crystalline form of a tosylate salt of (3R,4R,5S)-5-(difluoromethyl)piperidine-3,4-diol, wherein the tosylate salt comprises a crystalline form having an X-ray diffraction pattern of FIG. 3 .
