Abstract

An assembly is disclosed, which comprises a light fixture comprising a light source thereon; an image capturing device mounted adjacent with the light source; and a housing covering the image capturing device, wherein the housing has a window within a field of view of the image capturing device; wherein at least a portion of the window serving as working optical surface of the image capturing device is located within a shadow of direct light from the light source of the light fixture.

Claims (30)

1. An outdoor light fixture assembly, comprising:

a roadway light fixture comprising an LED light source thereon;

an image capturing device mounted with the assembly; and

a shield of opaque or diffusive material provided between the light source and a working optical surface of the image capturing device for creating a shadow;

the image capturing device being at least partially covered by a housing,

wherein the housing has a window within a field of view of the image capturing device, at least a portion of the window serving as the working optical surface of the image capturing device, and

wherein at least a portion of the window is located within a shadow of direct light from the light source.

2. The outdoor light fixture assembly of claim 1 , wherein the shield serves as a part of the housing.

3. The outdoor light fixture assembly of claim 2 , comprising a surface extended from the housing for shielding direct light from the light source.

4. The outdoor light fixture assembly of claim 1 , wherein the shield forms at least one of cylindrical shape, visor, or hood.

5. The outdoor light fixture assembly of claim 1 , wherein the light source comprises a reflector and a lamp within the reflector.

6. The outdoor light fixture assembly of claim 5 , wherein the reflector comprises an ellipsoidal reflector.

7. The outdoor light fixture assembly of claim 1 , wherein scattering material is provided on at least a portion of an outer surface of the housing for breaking up light from the light source.

8. The outdoor light fixture assembly of claim 7 , wherein the scattering material is selected from diffuser or light absorbent material.

9. The outdoor light fixture assembly of claim 1 , wherein the housing comprises absorptive coatings and/or non-specular finishes on at least a portion of an exterior and/or interior surface of the housing at least partially covering the image capturing device, or on interior components inside the housing.

10. The outdoor light fixture assembly of claim 1 , wherein said shield is a shield of diffusive material provided between the light source and the working optical surface of the image capturing device.

11. An outdoor light fixture assembly, comprising:

a roadway light fixture comprising an LED light source thereon;

a camera mounted with the assembly; and

a housing covering the camera, wherein the housing has a window within a field of view of the camera, the housing comprising a surface extending from the housing for shielding direct light from the light source;

wherein at least a portion of the window serving as working optical surface of the camera is located within a shadow of direct light from the light source of the light fixture.

12. The outdoor light fixture assembly of claim 11 , wherein the light source comprises a reflector and a lamp within the reflector.

13. The outdoor light fixture assembly of claim 12 , wherein the reflector comprises an ellipsoidal reflector.

14. The outdoor light fixture assembly of claim 11 , wherein scattering material is provided on the housing for breaking up light from the light source.

15. The outdoor light fixture assembly of claim 11 , wherein the housing comprises absorptive coatings and/or non-specular finishes on at least a portion of an exterior and/or interior surface of the housing at least partially covering the image capturing device, or on interior components inside the housing.

16. An outdoor light fixture assembly, comprising:

a roadway light fixture comprising an LED light source thereon;

an image capturing device mounted with the assembly; and

a shield of diffusive material provided between the light source and a working optical surface of the image capturing device;

the image capturing device being at least partially covered by a housing, wherein the housing has a window within a field of view of the image capturing device, at least a portion of the window serving as the working optical surface of the image capturing device.
