Bus with a panoramic front window
View Patent ↗My bus enhances the viewing experience of passengers by providing a panoramic front window to enable a passenger to see into a cab section of the bus and through the panoramic front window. The panoramic front window has a predetermined configuration that minimizes drag.
1. A bus including
a forward cab section having a driver compartment including a front cab window,
a rear passenger section connected to the forward cab section and said sections having an enlarged opening there between,
said rear passenger section having a passenger compartment, a floor supporting seats for passengers, and a window cap unit forward of the passenger compartment that overlies the driver compartment,
said window cap unit including a forward-facing window having an upper edge and a lower opposed horizontally oriented edge,
the forward-facing window positioned above the front cab window so that said forward-facing window's lower edge is adjacent an upper edge of the front cab window and is aligned centrally along a common central reference line with the front cab window to form in combination a panoramic front window to enable a passenger to see through the enlarged central opening and the panoramic front window when seated in a seat or standing on the floor and looking towards the driver compartment,
said front cab window and the forward-facing window have perimeters that are trapezoidal in shape and
said perimeters of said windows in combination form in outline of an hourglass shape.
2. A bus including
a forward cab section and a rear passenger section connected to the forward cab section, said sections having an enlarged opening between said sections,
said forward cab section having a driver compartment including a front cab window,
said rear passenger section having a passenger compartment and a window cap unit forward of the passenger compartment that overlies the driver compartment,
said window cap unit including a forward-facing window positioned above the front cab window,
said front cab window and said forward-facing window each having a perimeter that is trapezoidal in shape and forming in combination a panoramic window that in outline has an hourglass shape,
said passenger compartment having a floor supporting seats for the passengers, said floor positioned with respect to the front cab window and the forward-facing window to enable a passenger while standing or seating to look through both the window cab unit and driver compartment and see through the panoramic window.
