SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SUGGESTING PICK UP LOCATIONS BASED ON CUSTOMER DRIVING PATTERNS
In some embodiments, apparatuses and methods are provided herein useful to facilitating the vehicle pick up of orders at shopping facilities. In some embodiments, there is provided a system including: an electronic interface for receiving an order corresponding to a customer and permission for access to a customer's computing device having tracking software; a control circuit configured to: access the tracking software; determine driving patterns of the customer based on movement of the computing device along driving routes within a certain time period, the driving patterns including locations and corresponding times of day of the computing device along the driving routes; determine a shopping facility within a certain proximity to at least one location; transmit an invitation to the customer to pick up the order at the determined shopping facility; receive an acceptance to the invitation; and a shopping facility where the order is made available for pick up.
1 . A system for arranging pick up of requested products at shopping facilities, the system comprising:
an electronic interface configured to receive an order of at least one product corresponding to a customer and to receive permission for access to a customer's computing device having tracking software on the device;
a control circuit configured to:
access the tracking software on the customer's computing device;
determine driving patterns of the customer based on movement of the computing device along driving routes within a predetermined time period, the driving patterns comprising a plurality of locations and corresponding times of day of the customer's computing device along the driving routes during the predetermined time period;
determine a shopping facility within a predetermined proximity to at least one of the plurality of locations, each location and corresponding time of day indicating possible customer availability to pick up the order;
determine the customer's time of initiation of a driving route;
transmit an invitation to the customer to pick up the order at the determined shopping facility, with a suggested pick up time window corresponding to a time of day where the computing device is within a predetermined distance of the determined shopping facility, and at least a predetermined amount of time prior to the customer's initiation of the driving route;
receive an acceptance to the invitation indicating selection of the determined shopping facility; and
a shopping facility where the order is made available for pick up by the customer.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit is configured to:
determine a plurality of driving patterns corresponding to a specific day of the week for a plurality of weeks;
compare the plurality of driving patterns for that specific day of the week; and
determine if the driving pattern for that specific day for one week matches the driving patterns for that specific day for other weeks.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit is configured to:
store the plurality of locations and corresponding times of day of the driving patterns in a database;
re-access the tracking software on the customer's computing device;
re-determine the customer's driving patterns comprising the plurality of locations and corresponding times of day of the customer's computing device along the driving routes; and
update the plurality of locations and corresponding times of day in the database at predetermined time intervals.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit is configured to:
determine a plurality of shopping facilities within a predetermined proximity to at least one of the plurality of locations along at least one driving route;
transmit the invitation to the customer to pick up the order at one of the plurality of shopping facilities; and
receive a response to the invitation comprising the customer's selection of a shopping facility for pick up of the order.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the tracking software comprises global positioning system tracking software.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the electronic interface comprises a shopping server configured to serve as a platform for the input of the order information.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit is configured to:
determine and transmit to the customer a route from the customer's location to the selected shopping facility using vehicle traffic and mapping software that selects the route based on real time traffic conditions and route information
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit is configured to transmit instructions to the selected shopping facility to make the order available during the suggested pick up time window.
9 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising an inventory database with inventory data for the selected shopping facility to determine if the selected shopping facility has the at least one product in the order.
10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit is configured to:
determine a proposed order of at least one product that may be desired by the customer;
transmit the proposed order to the customer; and
receive a confirmation from the customer indicating placing the order for the at least one product.
11 . A method for arranging pick up of requested products at shopping facilities, the method comprising:
by an electronic interface, receiving an order of at least one product corresponding to a customer and receiving permission for access to a customer's computing device having tracking software on the device;
by a control circuit:
accessing the tracking software on the customer's computing device;
determining driving patterns of the customer based on movement of the computing device along driving routes within a predetermined time period, the driving patterns comprising a plurality of locations and corresponding times of day of the customer's computing device along the driving routes during the predetermined time period;
determining a shopping facility within a predetermined proximity to at least one of the plurality of locations, each location and corresponding time of day indicating possible customer availability to pick up the order;
determining the customer's time of initiation of a driving route;
transmitting an invitation to the customer to pick up the order at the determined shopping facility, with a suggested pick up time window corresponding to a time of day where the computing device is within a predetermined distance of the determined shopping facility, and at least a predetermined amount of time prior to the customer's initiation of the driving route; and
receiving an acceptance to the invitation indicating selection of the determined shopping facility.
12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising, by the control circuit:
determining a plurality of driving patterns corresponding to a specific day of the week for a plurality of weeks;
comparing the plurality of driving patterns for that specific day of the week; and
determining if the driving pattern for that specific day for one week matches the driving patterns for that specific day for other weeks.
13 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising, by the control circuit:
storing the plurality of locations and corresponding times of day of the driving patterns in a database;
re-accessing the tracking software on the customer's computing device;
re-determining the customer's driving patterns comprising the plurality of locations and corresponding times of day of the customer's computing device along the driving routes; and
updating the plurality of locations and corresponding times of day in the database at predetermined time intervals.
14 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising, by the control circuit:
determining a plurality of shopping facilities within a predetermined proximity to at least one of the plurality of locations along at least one driving route;
transmitting the invitation to the customer to pick up the order at one of the plurality of shopping facilities; and
receiving a response to the invitation comprising the customer's selection of a shopping facility for pick up of the order.
15 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising, by the control circuit: transmitting instructions to the selected shopping facility to make the order available during the suggested pick up time window.
16 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising, by the control circuit:
determining a proposed order of at least one product that may be desired by the customer;
transmitting the proposed order to the customer; and
receiving a confirmation from the customer indicating placing the order for the at least one product.
17 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the predetermined proximity is determined based on calculated travel time between a shopping facility and the plurality of locations along the driving routes not exceeding a predetermined maximum travel time.
