METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS INVOLVING (S)-BUCINDOLOL
Disclosed is bucindolol substantially free of its R-stereoisomer. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions that include bucindolol substantially free of its R-stereoisomer or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Also disclosed are methods of treating a patient that involve administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of a composition of the present invention.

47 . A method of increasing the capacity of a cell to generate NO, comprising contacting said cell with a composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and bucindolol substantially free of its R-stereoisomer.
48 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the cell is an endothelial cell, an epithelial cell, or a stem cell.
49 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the cell is an endothelial cell.
50 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the cell is in a patient.
51 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the cell is in an animal.
52 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the animal is a mouse, a rat, a rabbit, a cat, a dog, a horse, a sheep, a goat, a cow, or a primate.
