Abstract

According to the present invention there is provided a projection device, which is configured to project an image which is co-operable with images projected by one or more other projection devices, wherein the projection device comprises a detector operable to detect characteristics of images projected on a display surface by the projection device and one or more other projection devices, and a controller operable to adjust the projection device and/or to adjust one or more of the other projection devices, based on the characteristics of the images detected by the detector, such that the images projected by each projection device co-operate on the display surfaces.

2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one mirror includes a micro-electrical mechanical system (MEMS) mirror.

3. The device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one controller is to detect at least one characteristic of the display surface including at least a shape of the display surface.

4. The device of claim 1 , wherein the projection device is to cooperate with the at least one other projection device to project images to different areas of the display surface to form a larger image.

5. The device of claim 1 , wherein the controller is to cause the projection device to receive at least one adjustment command from the at least one other projection device.

6. The device of claim 1 , wherein the characteristics further comprise dimensions of the at least one projected image on the display surface.

7. The device of claim 1 , wherein the projection device comprises at least a mobile phone.

8. The device of claim 1 , wherein the projection device comprises at least a laser driver.

9. A method for projecting an image onto a display surface, comprising:

causing a projection device including at least one mirror to project at least a first image onto a display surface;

causing, with a controller of the projection device, at least one sensor to detect at least one image projected on a display surface;

determining, with the controller, at least characteristics of the at least one detected image on the display surface, the characteristics including at least one of a position of the at least one projected image on the display surface, a brightness of the at least one projected image on the display surface or a shape of the at least one projected image on the display surface;

determining, with the controller, at least one adjustment for at least one other projection device based on the at least one characteristics of the at least one image; and

causing, with the controller, at least one adjustment command to be transmitted to the at least one other projection device, wherein the at least one adjustment command is to cause the at least one other projection device to project an adjusted image on the display surface, wherein the adjusted image has an exposure that differs from an exposure of the first image.

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising detecting, with the controller, at least one characteristic of the display surface including at least a shape of the display surface.

11. The method of claim 9 , further comprising causing, with the controller, the projection device to cooperate with the at least one other projection device to project images to different areas of the display surface to form a larger image.

12. The method of claim 9 , further comprising causing, with the controller, the projection device to receive at least one adjustment command from the at least one other projection device.

13. The method of claim 9 , wherein the characteristics further comprise dimensions of the at least one projected image on the display surface.

14. A projection device to project an image onto a display surface, comprising:

means for projecting at least a first image onto the display surface;

means for causing at least one sensor to detect at least one image projected on a display surface;

means for determining at least characteristics of the at least one detected image on the display surface, the characteristics including at least one of a position of the at least one projected image on the display surface, a brightness of the at least one projected image on the display surface or a shape of the at least one projected image on the display surface;

means for determining at least one adjustment for at least one other projection device based on the at least one characteristics of the at least one image; and

means for causing at least one adjustment command to be transmitted from the projection device to the at least one other projection device, wherein the at least one adjustment command is to cause the at least one other projection device to project an adjusted image on the display surface, wherein the adjusted image has an exposure that differs from an exposure of the first image.

15. The device of claim 14 , further comprising means for detecting at least one characteristic of the display surface including at least a shape of the display surface.

16. The device of claim 14 , further comprising means for causing the projection device to cooperate with the at least one other projection device to project images to different areas of the display surface to form a larger image.

17. The device of claim 14 , further comprising means for causing the projection device to receive at least one adjustment command from the at least one other projection device.

18. The device of claim 9 , wherein the characteristics further comprise dimensions of the at least one projected image on the display surface.
