Abstract

The invention provides polymers having the structure: wherein Q, Q′, E, R 1 , a, b, c, d, and n are described herein. The invention further provides compositions comprising the polymers such as, personal care, hair care, coatings, and battery compositions. The invention furthermore provides hair care compositions comprising the polymers described herein.

Claims (14)

1. The polymer having the structure:

wherein each said Q has a structure independently selected from the group consisting of:

and combinations thereof, wherein each asterisk symbol (*) denotes the point of attachment of said Q to the polymer backbone and each hash symbol (#) denotes the point(s) of attachment of said Q to said E group(s);

each Q′ is a hydrocarbyl moiety comprising at least e hydroxyl and optionally at least one ether;

each E is independently selected from the group consisting of:

and combinations thereof;

each R 1 is a functionalized or unfunctionalized alkyl;

each R 2 , R 3 and R 4 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, functionalized and unfunctionalized alkyl, and combinations thereof;

each A − is an independently selected anion;

n is an integer representing number of said E groups attached to said Q moiety, wherein said n≥1;

a is a value ranging from about 0.1 to 100 percent by weight of said polymer; and

each b, c, and d is an independently selected value ranging from 0 to about 99.9 percent by weight of said polymer, with the proviso that sum of said a, b, c and d for each said polymer equals 100 weight percent.

2. The polymer according to claim 1 , having a structure selected from the group consisting of:

wherein a is a value ranging from about 0.1 to 100 percent by weight of said polymer; each b, c and d for each said polymer is an independently selected value ranging from 0 to about 99.9 percent by weight of said polymer, with the proviso that sum of said a, b, c, and d for each said polymer equals 100 weight percent.
