Abstract

Provided is a method for decoding a video signal. The method includes generating a first prediction sample by performing intra prediction on a current block, determining an intra prediction pattern of a current block, partitioning the current block into a plurality of sub-blocks based on the determined intra prediction pattern, generating a first prediction sample for a sub-block by performing intra prediction, determining an offset for the sub-block to obtain a second prediction sample, and generating the second prediction sample for the sub-block by using the first prediction sample and the offset.

Claims (41)

1. A method for decoding a video, the method comprising:

determining an intra prediction pattern of a current block to which intra prediction is applied, the intra prediction pattern being used to determine a partition type of the current block;

partitioning the current block into a plurality of sub-blocks based on the determined intra prediction pattern;

generating a first prediction sample for a sub-block by performing intra prediction;

determining an offset for the sub-block to obtain a second prediction sample; and

generating the second prediction sample for the sub-block by using the first prediction sample and the offset,

wherein:

when information specifying the intra prediction pattern of the current block is signaled via a bitstream, the intra prediction pattern of the current block is determined based on the information, and

when the information specifying the intra prediction pattern of the current block is not signaled via the bitstream, the intra prediction pattern of the current block is determined based on a size or a shape of the current block.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the intra prediction pattern is used to determine whether the current block is partitioned vertically or horizontally.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein whether the offset is used to generate the second prediction sample is determined based on information signaled for the sub-block.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein a number of sub-blocks included in the current block is determined as one of 2 and 4.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the offset is derived based on neighboring samples adjacent to the sub-block.

6. A device for decoding a video, the device comprising:

a prediction module circuitry configured to determine an intra prediction pattern which is used to determine a partition type of a current block, partition the current block into the plurality of sub-blocks based on the determined intra prediction pattern, generate a first prediction sample for a sub-block by performing intra prediction, determine an offset for the sub-block to obtain a second prediction sample, and generate the second prediction sample for the sub-block by using the first prediction sample and the offset,

wherein:

when information specifying the intra prediction pattern of the current block is signaled via a bitstream, the intra prediction pattern of the current block is determined based on the information, and

when the information specifying the intra prediction pattern of the current block is not signaled via the bitstream, the intra prediction pattern of the current block is determined based on a size or a shape of the current block.

7. The device of claim 6 , wherein the intra prediction pattern is used to determine whether the current block is partitioned vertically or horizontally.

8. The device of claim 6 , wherein whether the offset is used to generate the second prediction sample is determined based on information signaled for the sub-block.

9. The device of claim 6 , wherein a number of sub-blocks included in the current block is determined as one of 2 and 4.

10. The device of claim 6 , wherein the prediction module derives the offset based on neighboring samples adjacent to the sub-block.

11. A method for encoding a video, the method comprising:

generating a first prediction sample by performing intra prediction on a current block;

determining an intra prediction pattern of a current block to which intra prediction is applied, the intra prediction pattern being used to determine a partition type of the current block;

partitioning the current block into a plurality of sub-blocks based on the determined intra prediction pattern;

generating a first prediction sample for a sub-block by performing intra prediction;

determining an offset for the sub-block to obtain a second prediction sample; and

generating the second prediction sample for the sub-block by using the first prediction sample and the offset,

wherein:

when the intra prediction pattern is determined adaptively based on a size or a shape of the current block, information specifying the intra prediction pattern of the current block is not encoded in a bitstream, and

when the intra prediction pattern is not determined based on the size or the shape of the current block, the information to determine the intra prediction pattern of the current block is encoded in the bitstream.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the intra prediction pattern is used to determine whether the current block is partitioned vertically or horizontally.

13. The method of claim 11 , wherein the method further comprises encoding information indicating whether the offset is used to generate the second prediction sample.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein a number of sub-blocks included in the current block is determined as one of 2 and 4.
