Abstract

A system for determining common interests of vehicle occupants may include an interface and a processing unit, The interface may be configured to access a first set of data related to a first person occupying the vehicle and a second set of data related to a second person occupying the vehicle. The processing unit may be configured to compare the first set of data with the second set of data to determine data commonalities. The processing unit may also be configured to request and receive related data having at least one common characteristic of the determined data commonalities, and output the related data.

Claims (45)

1 . A system for determining common interests of vehicle occupants, the system comprising:

an interface configured to:

access a first set of data related to a first person; and

access a second set of data related to a second person; and

a processing unit configured to:

compare the first set of data with the second set of data to determine data commonalities;

request and receive related data having at least one common characteristic of the determined data commonalities; and

output the related data.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first and second sets of data are based on at least one of media, a destination, and vehicle settings.

3 . The system of claim 1 ,

wherein the interface is further configured to receive a first signature signal from a first mobile communication device associated with the first person and a second signature signal from a second mobile communication device associated with the second person, and

wherein the processing unit is further configured to determine the presence of the first person based on the first signature signal and determine the presence of the second person based on the second signature signal.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing unit is configured to access the first and second sets of data from the first and second mobile communication devices.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing unit is configured to access the first and second sets of data from one or more third party systems through respective authorizations.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing unit is configured to extract data from the first and second sets of data and store the extracted data in a database, and wherein the data commonalities are based on the extracted data.

7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the processing unit is configured to at least one of: classify the extracted data based on preferences or apply a weight factor to the extracted data according to the preferences.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing unit is configured to request and receive the related data from a third party system.

9 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a camera configured to capture an image of at least one of the first and second people and generate a signal,

wherein the processing unit is further configured to process the signal with facial recognition software to determine a reaction of the at least one of the first and second people, and wherein the data commonalities are based on the reaction.

10 . A vehicle comprising:

a system for determining common interests of vehicle occupants, the system comprising:

an interface configured to:

access a first set of data related to a first person occupying the vehicle; and

access a second set of data related to a second person occupying the vehicle; and

a processing unit configured to:

compare the first set of data with the second set of data to determine data commonalities;

request and receive related data having at least one common characteristic of the determined data commonalities; and

output the related data.

11 . The vehicle of claim 10 , wherein the first and second sets of data are based on at least one of media, a destination, and vehicle settings.

12 . The vehicle of claim 10 ,

wherein the interface is further configured to receive a first signature signal from a first mobile communication device associated with the first person and a second signature signal from a second mobile communication device associated with the second person, and

wherein the processing unit is further configured to determine the presence of the first person based on the first signature signal and determine the presence of the second person based on the second signature signal.

13 . The vehicle of claim 10 , wherein the processing unit is configured to access the first and second sets of data from the first and second mobile communication devices.

14 . The vehicle of claim 10 , wherein the processing unit is configured to access the first and second sets of data from one or more third party systems through respective authorizations.

15 . The vehicle of claim 10 , wherein the processing unit is configured to extract data from the first and second sets of data and store the extracted data in a database, and wherein the data commonalities are based on the extracted data.

16 . The vehicle of claim 15 , wherein the processing unit is configured to at least one of: classify the extracted data based on preferences or apply a weight factor to the extracted data according to the preferences.

17 . The vehicle of claim 10 , wherein the processing unit is configured to request and receive the related data from a third party system.

18 . The vehicle of claim 10 , wherein the system further comprises a camera configured to capture an image of at least one of the first and second people and generate a signal,

wherein the processing unit is further configured to process the generated signal with facial recognition software to determine a reaction of the at least one of the first and second people, wherein the data commonalities are based on the reaction.

19 . The vehicle of claim 10 , wherein the processing unit is configured to request and receive the related data further based on the geographic location of the vehicle.

20 . A method for determining common interests of vehicle occupants with a system having an interface and a processing unit, the method comprising:

accessing, with the interface, a first set of data related to a first person and a second set of data related to a second person;

comparing, with the processing unit, the first set of data with the second set of data to determine data commonalities;

requesting and receiving, with the processing unit, related data having at least one common characteristic of the determined data commonalities; and

outputting, with the processing unit, the related data.
