Abstract

Provided is a courier management system. The system includes a customer computing device for accessing and receiving data produced by the system and a server located at a service provider, the server coupled to the customer computing device. The server may be programmed to store customer preferences, generate and transmit a scalable shopping preference interface to allow a customer to select a level of courier involvement, automatically generate order instructions in response to accessing and processing the customer preferences and the level of courier involvement after receiving a shopping list. Automatically generating order instructions may include selecting a substitute or alternative product to complete the shopping list in response to automatically determining a requested product is out of stock.

Claims (36)

1 . A courier management system, comprising:

a customer computing device for accessing and receiving data produced by the system;

a server located at a service provider, the server coupled to the customer computing device and programmed to:

receive from the customer computing device customer preferences and automatically store the customer preferences;

automatically generate and transmit to the customer computing device for display a scalable shopping preference interface associated with the customer preferences, wherein the scalable shopping preference interface comprises a sliding scale indicating a level of courier involvement;

receive from the customer computing device a signal from the scalable shopping preference interface a signal indicating selection of the level of courier involvement and store selection of courier involvement with the customer preferences; and

receive from the customer computing device a shopping list and automatically generate order instructions in response to accessing and processing the customer preferences and the level of courier involvement.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the server is programmed to automatically store the shopping list.

3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the server is programmed to automatically store all shopping lists from the customer computing device and associated levels of courier involvement.

4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the server is programmed to automatically generate and transmit to the computing device for display a recommended level of courier involvement in response to processing the stored customer preferences and stored shopping lists with associated levels of courier involvement.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the server is further programmed to determine a recommended level of courier involvement based on value vectors associated with the customer.

6 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the value vectors of the customer each represents at least one of a person's values leading to at least one of a plurality of possible preferences and affinities and each comprises a magnitude that corresponds to the customer's belief in good that comes from an order associated with that value.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the level of courier involvement comprises selecting a number of couriers to coordinate the fulfilling of the shopping list received from the customer computing device by the server.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein one or more couriers are selected to fulfill the shopping list based on value vectors associated with the customer.

9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the value vectors of the customer each represents at least one of a person's values leading to at least one of a plurality of possible preferences and affinities and each comprises a magnitude that corresponds to the customer's belief in good that comes from an order associated with that value.

10 . A courier management system, comprising:

a customer computing device for accessing and receiving data produced by the system;

a server located at a service provider, the server coupled to the customer computing device and programmed to:

receive from the customer computing device customer preferences and automatically store the customer preferences;

automatically generate and transmit to the customer computing device for display a scalable shopping preference interface associated with the customer preferences, wherein the scalable shopping preference interface comprises a sliding scale indicating a level of courier involvement;

receive from the customer computing device a signal from the scalable shopping preference interface a signal indicating selection of the level of courier involvement and store selection of courier involvement with the customer preferences; and

receive from the customer computing device a shopping list and automatically generate order instructions in response to accessing and processing the customer preferences and the level of courier involvement, wherein:

automatically generating order instructions comprises selecting a substitute or alternative product to complete the shopping list in response to automatically determining a requested product is out of stock.

11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the scalable shopping preference interface comprises a selection of types of substitute or alternative products.

12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the selection of types of substitute or alternative products comprises at least one of price, brand, quality, freshness, expiration date, and combinations thereof.

13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein selecting the substitute or alternative product comprises the server programmed to receive a selection of types of substitute or alternative products and store the same in the customer preferences.

14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the customer preferences comprise dietary restrictions.

15 . The system of claim 14 , wherein selecting the substitute or alternative product comprises the server programmed to retrieve the stored customer preferences and determine the substitute or alternative product in response to processing the shopping list data and the stored customer preferences data.

16 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the server is programmed to automatically store the shopping list.

17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the server is programmed to automatically store all shopping lists from the customer computing device and associated levels of courier involvement.

18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the server is programmed to automatically generate and transmit to the computing device for display a recommended level of courier involvement in response to processing the stored customer preferences and stored shopping lists with associated levels of courier involvement.

19 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the server is further programmed to determine a recommended level of courier involvement based on value vectors associated with the customer.

20 . The system of claim 19 , wherein the value vectors of the customer each represents at least one of a person's values leading to at least one of a plurality of possible preferences and affinities and each comprises a magnitude that corresponds to the customer's belief in good that comes from an order associated with that value.

21 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the level of courier involvement comprises selecting a number of couriers to coordinate the fulfilling of the shopping list received from the customer computing device by the server.

22 . The system of claim 10 , wherein one or more couriers are selected to fulfill the shopping list based on value vectors associated with the customer.

23 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the value vectors of the customer each represents at least one of a person's values leading to at least one of a plurality of possible preferences and affinities and each comprises a magnitude that corresponds to the customer's belief in good that comes from an order associated with that value.
